Hey.
For me, running RDR2 with VorpX is not working at all. Maybe you guys here can try to help me:
I am using Valve Index and a XBOX Gamepad (because from what i understand, it’s impossible for VorpX to emulate something, so i can use VR-controllers instead of my gamepad?).
At first i had many problems, because when i was moving my head in the game main menu, the ingame mouse was moving (very slowly, but still moving) which always triggered the game’s button-labels to switch to “keyboard”-labels.
I had to set the head multiplier in the VorpX ingame menu to 0 to be able to use the gamepad in the controller at all. Very weird…
Then i had problems to go into 1st person view ingame, because pressing V didn’t do a thing. Maybe it was overwritten by VorpX? No idea. For somereason, when i was walking a little bit then with WASD, i was suddenly able to use V for changing to 1st person view.
So I went to my VR headset again, put it on, and I saw the game in some cinema similar mode in front of me. I guess that’S nothing anyone would buy VorpX for :/
But even switching to “Full VR” mode didn’t work, because i was only seeing a small portion of the screen. I’m not sure if this is caused by the resolution which was set to 1440p, but I’m not able to select any higher resolution in RDR2 because my screen only supports 1440p.
So, how should I be able to really go into the FULL VR mode, where i see no cinema-similar view but the game as everyone is expecting it to look like?
Looking forward to answers and thanks in advance!
Hi,
I am new to Vorpx. I have been watching multiple videos and reading about how to play Resident Evil 7 on my Valve Index. After installing the FOV trainer and all that, the FOV seems to be ok. However, what disturbs me most is the fact that what I see on my headset is way darker compare to what is render on my monitor.
Have you experience this before? Does it have to do with your SteamVR headset settings? Or is it something with Vorpx settings?
My settings are configured for 90FPS and resolution of 3840×2160 (4K)
Any tips?
I’m having this same Portal 2 headtracking issue; doesn’t happen in Half-Life, or HL: Episode 1 (not sure about Episode 2); whenever I move my head, a subtle swimmy rotation echoes for a moment, then stops.
vorpX scanning & settings have no effect…the behavior remains unchanged.
(This was my first ever Portal 2 session with vorpX, yesterday, 2020-05-20; it directly followed a vorpX update).
Edit:
VorpX version 21.2.0.3

I have similar issues whenever I make resolution changes to the game, change from full screen to windowed, make vorpx changes like changing room anti aliasing thru vorpx menu or anything that triggers the waiting steam overlay, I get huge fps drop until I restart the game. Also the z3d does not work after making any of these above changes until I restart the game. Once all these settings are dialed in though, the fps and z3d work perfectly. Actually this game is truly great in z3d! Thanks Ralf! I play in cinema mode, have i7-9700k, rtx2070, valve index hmd and controllers, xbox controller. Forgot to mention cyberpunk 2077 had this similar fps drop issue at launch but was fixed.
You should try MPC-BE (https://sourceforge.net/projects/mpcbe/), it has native h.264 MVC-3D support (3D Blu Ray standard) using the Intel Media SDK. Clone the MPC-HC VorpX profile for MPC-BE to make use of the native Vorpx hook instead of using desktop viewer. Downside is you are limited to EVR (MadVR is far superior for image quality once you tweak it).
FYI – I also use SVP (https://www.svp-team.com/) to interpolate video playback from 23.976hz to 90hz for smooth motion playback for my Index HMD.
I love watching 3D Blu Rays using Vorpx + HMD so more support for it is much appreciated Ralf.
Is this the case for everyone? Is there a fix?
I’m using Valve Index motion controllers, no gamepad. The mouse is active.
Hi Ralf,
I just purchased Vorpx for Resident evil 8. However, it keeps failing to attach and it’s stuck on the loading screen for Oculus and stuck in the home screen on SteamVr. I am using a Rift S and rtx 2060. Bought resident evil 8 on steam.
I need help!
You might want to change the Device Selection to SteamVR (Index, Vive, Primax) if it is not injecting.
If you read the conversation that is in this post, my friend, you’d see that as it is now, RE8 is not good friends with vorpX…
The Demo was in an OK terms…
So we all have to sit tight and hope for some sort of a solution, BeardoBenjo and the-VR-realm get low 7-8 FPS in game. As BeardoBenjo said in his comment – A SlideShow…
hello,
have you any rdr2 mods ?
is it fresh rdr 2 install ?
what’s your antivirus ?
sorry for that question but did you “mod” your rtx 3090 to have cooler vram modules ?
btw, it’s working fine for me with the following setup
valve index
w10 20h2 with latest updates
5900x
rtx 3090 FE
32 gb 3600
msi afterburner on
avast.
I just grabbed Vorpx today for the sole purpose of trying RDR2 in VR. It seems to launch and attach but ultimately crashes with the error…
ERR_GFX_D3D_DEFERRED_MEM
Out of memory. Please reboot, close other applications, and ensure your computer meets the minimum requirements…
Gigabyte OC 3090
5950x
32 gigs 3800 ram
Windows 10
Valve Index set to 90hz
RDR2 configs set to default
Afterburner shut off
Clean boot with no other programs running
Has anyone else had this issue? I can’t be the only one right?
Hello friends!
I am completely new to VR. I bought a valve index a few days ago and today it finally arrived. It’s shokingly good. Halflife and Skyrim VR are absolutely stunning. But I had something else in mind before I made this decision. I wanted to play GTA5 and RDR2 in VR (and keyboard+Mouse or gamepad, I am not sure what will be better). So I bought vorpx before the headset even arrived. I installed it and I also installed opentrack. But not a single game gets hooked. I don’t get any VR experience or output in my headset. I dunno what I am doing wrong, so maybe you can help me. Please haha. I am so hyped to play RDR2. Spend over 1079€ for this haha.
Is there an idiot-proofed guide I can follow or some troubleshooting? I mean not a single game gets hooked even after choosing valve index as my main headset in the configuration menu.
I already watched 1-3 years old videos on youtube, but nothing works.
I have rtx 2070 super, 24 gigs of ram and an old cpu (i5) I want to change soon. Everything works, but the headset dont get any input from vorpx.
For Windows Mixed Reality headsets this update is really quite something. WMR was always extremely clunky with SteamVR compared to other headsets. I’m really happy to have that out of the way. With OpenXR WMR headsets finally are on par with how native SteamVR headsets like Index or Vive work with SteamVR.
… also if vr will not become mainstream in games, it will survive in the hardcore gamer scene and the business section. Have a look at the linux scene. In the business server and also many other industries its mainstream, and in the linux desktop and mobile scene, there are hardware projects although it isn’t much profitable. This is my worst scenario, but vr will though not die. But with the exception, if we will have auto-stereoscopic TVs and Gaming Rooms in a quality of hologram’s in Star Trek !
But we will have the PSVR2 ! In my opinion it will be the revolution for the masses because Sony will release a headset in a quality of the valve index for low budget console gamers, and will sell millions in the next years. The PSVR1 sold 3 Million units. Sony makes VR for the masses and not for the classes, like the PlayStation itself. We will get a PS5 and PSVR2 Bundle at 1000$, with a quality of a PCVR System at 2500$.
Oculus has tried the same with the Quest 2, but they aren’t selling a High-End Gaming PC at 500$ and Mobile VR will not replace the Flatgames in the future, and if you want PCVR with the Quest 2 you need a 1500$ – 2000$ PC and a Quest 2 at 450$, and this is to much expansive for the masses.
The 100-200$ HMDs are perfect for XXX movies. Have you ever seen a 3D 180 degree xxx movie ? I don’t know why this is not popular !?
Vorpx is a one way ticket, never ever Flatgames on TV !!!
I hope if VR will replace the Flatgames and become mainstream, every game has the option to play it with a gamepad or keyboard and Mouse, i hate the motion controller and aerobic in my living room.
Was mache ich falsch?

I don‘t have much experience with WMR in native apps, but at least with vorpX the difference is indeed fairly huge. Both big WMR annoyances, i.e. judder with uneven game/headset framerate ratios, as well as heavy judder below half the headset refresh rate, are gone with OpenXR. With OpenXR WMR headsets finally behave as intended and as solid as native SteamVR headsets like Vive or Index do with SteamVR.
vorpx menu shouldnt move if your in-game view is turning, you can also try to switch to edgepeek where head tracking movemtnt to mouse is reduced.
But in general that sounds very wrong, it shouldnt be spinning at all unless you have faulty index controller with a drift issue that always inputs thumbstick turn.
