Howdy, newbie in vorpx here. Bought it to play RE7 and compared to the originial PS4pro VR experience it works quite good so far. Problem remains for me: how can i change the gamepad mappings throug the ingame vorpx menu? I localized the according option (gampad RB must change from Key E to key G) but how to trigger any change? From using the gamepad as input device for that menu operation i have failed so far. Unfortunately my Index room scale setup doesnt allow to reach my PCs keypad. Do i need to push “G” on the PCs keypad while howering the vorpx-menu mouse cursor above the Key field? Thanks for hints.
By the way i think the profiles should be in plain ASCII format to be able to make rudimentary changes there.

Hello, im new to vorpx. Sofar using it for Long Dark and Farming Simulator 19 with Valve Index.

Ive noticed that when i ALT+TAB to desctop while in vorpx, the picture freezes in VR. When i switch back to the game, it remains frozen, though on the monitor the game continues running normally. Its just like vorpx is losing attachment to the game and stays frozen. Is there a way to get around that and maybe somehow reattach it?

Just wanted to follow up to say resetting to defaults did fix the perspective problems. The scaling does seem to be related to seated vs. standing height as well, since the software tries to put my head at the height of the visor and my feet at floor height. Other people in the game are scaled based upon my height, I think, so when I’m seated, everyone looks about 3.5′ tall, but when standing, they’re all around 6′ high or so. This probably means I should be playing while standing with the Index controllers, but I haven’t quite figured how to do everything from a controller-only interface yet.

Hey all. There were only a few threads here and on the googles for Antichamber and getting it to work with good FOV. Below are the few steps you need to do.

Firstly, make sure you run the game at least once as it installs stuff the first time you run it.

Even though Antichamber is officially supported, it uses the “Unreal Engine 3” profile – so if you already use another game with vorpx that uses this profile, I would suggest first copying that profile and make a new one. The folder with the UDK.EXE file to use is located in:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Antichamber\Binaries\Win32\UDK.exe

NOTE: If you don’t have any games using that profile, you can’t actually create a custom profile because antichamber binds to it when you first launch it with vorpx open.

Next, to get Antichamber working with a proper FOV, you need to enable the console by editing ini file in notepad, and changed the fov to around 125 in game.

    DefaultInput.ini:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Antichamber\UDKGame\Config

Find the following lines in DefaultInput.ini:
    ConsoleKey=None
    TypeKey=None
Put a semicolon in front of each of these lines so that they now look like:
    ;ConsoleKey=None
    ;TypeKey=None
    Save the file

I would next suggest setting your resolution here, as for some reason because it’s running in 4:3 for the VR headset, it doesn’t show all the possible resolutions.

In the same folder as the DefaultInput.ini, there’s a file called DefaultEngine.ini.

At the bottom you will see [SystemSettings]
Change the ResX and ResY to what you want as the resolution – I have a Valve Index headset, and I set it to my recommended resolution of 130%, or:

    ResX=2296
    ResY=2552

I did notice a slight difference if I set it lower, so I keep it at that.

Open the game, and press the ~ (tilde) key, then type:

    fov 125

You may need to play around with a number, but for me 125 is great.

I don’t know why, but the normal “SaveConfig” UDK3 command does not work..so you will have to type “fov 125” in console each time you open the game.

Not a huge deal to be able to play the game in VR imho!

I hope this helps anyone out with this awesome game!

Out of desperation im going to start a request for help.

    Cyberpunk
    P.C
    Valve index
    VORPX
    RTX 2080 super
    windows 10
    Intel Core i5 9600K
    16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1200MHz
    MPG Z390 GAMING PRO CARBON
Installed cyberpunk few weeks ago and picked up and experimented with running tips. rtx on/off res up/down etc.
It ran ok up to a point then higher my seetings obviously began to stutter, lowered settings.
But it has always crashed every 5 minutes, seemingly at randowm moments. eg yesterday it crashed in the menus so that couldnt be down to strain on my system.

A week or two ago i discvovered you could load profiles from the vorpx cloud. A few didnt improve things but one profile {whether its related to the upturn in performance or not} stopped the crashing. I perfected all my sensitivities and had a few days in a row of crash free gameplay for hours on end.

Then one day i started playing, 5/6 days ago, and everything was messed up, controls were all different and crashing was back.
To this day my escape menu for settings/quit has jumped from ps4 controller {using app ds4} options button to screenshot button.
I possibly opened some mouse software in the 24hrs leading up to this but didnt map any buttons differently. Most of the other butons had changed too. And i spent days resetting sensitivities and remapping buttons.

Now im back to square one, settings altering to get as good a performance as poss before stuttering appears but the game crashes every five minuites again regardless of what cloud or local vorpx profile i use.

Ive reinstalled my graphics drivers. Ive let geforce experience optimise my settings then gradually turned some down again without success. It crashed in the menu !

So now inste4ad of being in a fine tweaking stage im in a doubt everything stage.
Is it an nvidia setting ?
Is it a vorpx setting ?
Is it a game setting ?

Incidentally it doesnt crash in pancake mode.

I love this game. But the inevitable freezing screen every five minutes is driving me mad.

Advice on getting a good quality game appearance welcome. I have a rtx 2080 super and yet play in fuzzy low res roads albeit with decent framerate.
And please someone have some advice on how to stop the crashing. A setting, a sacrifice to the gods, anything.

In reply to: Ralf: HP Reverb G2?

For anyone pondering whether a Reverb G2 is a good choice for vorpX gaming: the answer is yes with a little caveat. Finally got one today and have to say I’m impressed for the most part. Note that I only look at the headset from a vorpX perspective.

The caveat is that WMR headsets still make it harder for vorpX to keep the headset thread framerate stable when the GPU becomes maxed out, so in some games/situations they are a bit more prone to judder than e.g. a Valve Index. I’ll soon do some OpenXR experiments, hoping that OpenXR instead of SteamVR for WMR headsets will get rid of that, but as always can’t promise anything.

    Display:

Overall great image quality with solid black levels and (almost) non-existent screendoor effect. The vertical FOV is similar to Oculus headsets, i.e. about 10° narrower than Index/Vive. Due to the 1:1 screen aspect ratio the horizontal FOV is largely comparable to Index/Vive with their 8:9 screens though, although that’s a bit difficult to say exactly since the stereo overlap may be different. Perfect FOV vs. pixel density choice in my opinion. Your mileage may vary if a slightly higher FOV is more important to you than the best possible image sharpness.

Modern games typically will have to be upscaled from lower resolutions for performance reasons, at least when using G3D, but the high pixel density makes that look considerably better than on other headsets.

    Lenses:

I’ve read some complaints about a rather small sweet spot, but at least for me that’s not really an issue. Once the headset sits right the fully crisp area doesn’t seem to be smaller than in other headsets to me. Things get sightly more blurry towards the screen edges, but that’s the case with all headsets and I don’t think its any worse here compared to other current headsets. Way better than the gen 1 WMR headset I have.

    Tracking:

More than good enough for vorpX gaming. Supposedly in some situations Valve’s base station tracking can still be slightly superior (e.g. bow aiming or grabbing behind you), but typically you won’t encounter situations like that with vorpX. So nothing to complain about in the tracking department.

    Controllers:

Pretty much Oculus Touch controllers with a slightly cheaper feel. Not as refined as Index controllers, but they provide enough buttons to work well with vorpX. The Index finger tracking (so far) is largely a gimmick and of no concern for vorpX anyway. Nothing serious to complain about here either.

    Sound:

Spectacular. Same as Valve Index. Best you can get in a consumer headset.

    Conclusion:

Overall the Reverb G2 is a good choice for vorpX gaming. Whether it can dethrone Index in regard to being the best headset for vorpX is a matter of preferences. Without the WMR caveat mentioned above it would for me, especially when factoring in the more affordable price point of the Reverb. The way things stand I’d consider them largely on par as far as vorpX is concerned.

HTC Cosmos has been reported as the worst tracking device on the market and its quite unpopular, I bet Ralf hasnt even considered it to include it.

I dont know much about it, but it might count as WMR device, so wme controller might work on top of that steamvr has rebind feature and if you run a game with vorpx, then go to steamvr rebind list and find vorpx there is an option in one of tabs of rebind menu to “act as vive, rift, index controller” or something, havent tested it myself but it might be what you want.

Lastly there is a software to emulate gamepads/wheels/hotas on controllers here you might try it, basically same as worpx does.

Anyone get Immortals Fenyx Rising to work? I heard it uses the Anvil Engine, same as Assassins Creed 2, 3, brotherhood, origins:

Crashes on launch. Right after “Sony Interactive Entertainment presents” shown. Latest updates installed on both, vorpX and Horizon – Zero Dawn. Shaders cache is missing after latest game update – shaders being optimized on each game launch (game works fine when launched without vorpX).

HMD Valve Index, GPU nVidia 3090, latest drivers.

Windows Mixed Reality is not as good as Oculus or native SteamVR headsets like Vive or Index in regard to keeping the headset framerate stable. to account for that vorpX per default enables FluidSync on WMR headsets. If you disabled it, please switch it back to either ‚On‘ or ‚Device‘ (which means on in case of WMR).

Alternatively try a full factory reset in the config app (trouble shooting page). That makes sense after switching headsets anyway.

    hello guys !

i’d like to try F1 2020 on my Valve index using vorpX.

my steamVR is set to supersampling 150 % “2468 x 2740” by eye.

my monitor is 2560 x 1440 full screen mode.

i’d like to know the best setting i have to use on my monitor in order the game works fine with F1 2020 using best quality in the headset.

i’d like to know also if a “low” resolution on the monitor will give “low” resolution in the headset (or the same), i’m a newbie vortX user. VorpX acts like a “copy/paste” of the resolution of windowed game on the monitor or re-calculate resolution according to the headset ?

    thank you a lot !

I’ve found that if possible, using 9:10 aspect ratio is best for Index if you can get FOV right. I’ve been able to get Resident Evil 7 to play at 9:10 aspect ratio but the world is squished at this aspect ratio, everything looks skinnier and taller than it should. Is there anyway to fix this?

FOV and the world is fine at 16:9 but I would like to get it at 9:10 because that is most optimal for performance and graphical fidelity.

    Good news, thanks Ralf !

This gallery may be a help for picking out games. Thers is a genre list as well.

But be aware you have to go through more then 500 games

It’s still worth it, there are hundreds of thousands of Index’s and Vive’s, and WMR may add it eventually. As for whether you could get it to do RTX, the whole point of this is that you have to render a fraction of the frames. If you can hit 24fps with at least 90% SS, you’re in.
