I just tried the latest update(17.1.1) and in Bioshock I get no 3D effect. Even if I switch between Z-normal or Z-adaptive or none with or without Direct VR. I see no change and get a flat image. Direct VR does fix FOV and positional tracking though. I get the same results with Fallout 4. Skrim SE and Borderlands seem to work properly though. I have a 980ti and Windows 10.

I’m trying to get Falcon 4 BMS to work with VorpX but so far, all attempts have been unsuccessful. I’m using a HTC Vive on an i5 6600K, GTX 980Ti, 16GB RAM, Win10. I’m using Falcon BMS 4.33.2 and GeForce driver v376.33.

I’ve turned off the SHARE and GAMESTREAM settings on the GeForce Experience, turned off FRIENDS and MESSAGES notifications in Steam, set the message window to NEVER flash, disabled the STEAM OVERLAY, and I turn off all other programs (Origin, GoG Launcher, HWiNFO, Gaijin, Dropbox, Spybot S&D resident).

In the game, I’ve set FOV to 120 and have verified this is applied on a non-3D instance of the game. There are a few .dll files in the .exe directory, but these are game-installed dlls as far as I can tell (dbghelp.dll and GMPrint.dll); I don’t use SweetFX.

The game works when using Virtual Desktop but unfortunately, I cannot get it to “go 3D” properly plus there is no head tracking at all. When using VorpX, the 2D menus are easily accessed via the Edge Peek settings but when going into the 3D world, the screen (both in the Vive and on my monitor) just goes black. I know the game is being ran in the background as I eventually hear my aircraft’s engines, but there is no picture at all.

Please include Falcon BMS in the list of supported games, but in the meantime, are there any other things I can try to get this game to work with VorpX?

Thanks in advance for any help and a Happy New Year to all!

A Lot of cool features here, but is there any way to rollback to a previous version for testing? I’m having some trouble after the update. Not sure if I should post here or in the troubleshooting section.

I pretty much use vorpx for one game (Rocket League in virtual cinema) and it no longer works after this update. Pretty sure it’s due to the vorpx update since the last patch for Rocket League was on 12/20 and I’ve played it with vorpx since then. I have an HTC Vive.

I did try Witcher 3 since I saw it already had a profile, and it did open in virtual cinema mode, so it at least appears to be isolated to Rocket League for now.

Also, couple issues that keep popping up every update which aren’t huge, but kind of annoying:
    – My excluded programs list gets reset to default every update, I have to add all my exclusions back every time.
    – My custom profiles (Rocket league) keep getting deleted after updates and I have to re-create them.
    – The updates create desktop shortcuts every time even if they already exist. I had 3 copies of each of the shortcuts due to the last 2 updates for a total of 9 vorpx related desktop shortcuts.

    Hi!!

Had a great time playing COD:ModernWarfare 3 and Ghosts, and also with Battlefront and other games, thanks to VorpX :)

Now i am trying to get Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare REMASTERED to run, and i also found out that i just have to copy a profile like Ghosts and add the game.exe to it, it works great in 3D!

BUT i cant get the FOV correct?!! I tried this “MWR FPS Changer” http://www.mpgh.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1189486

with Extreme Injector, i tried changing it in the .cfg (but the config is scrambled,so no luck), but i cant get this to work!!

Its not even working without VorpX, so has anyone got this FOV-Hack to work with COD:Remastered?? Tried Anti-Virus on/off,run as admin, different injection methods…i also see it in the Process lists!!! But FOV doesnt change….

Cant fully enjoy it with only ~65 FOV and a Vive…. :(

Maybe some of you have a solution for this :)
    Thanks!!

I still have to create a desktop shortcut to get vorpX to hook the executable. However even with -force-d3d9 in the Steam startup options, I still have to spam-click the game’s shortcut before it will hook properly. On the off chance I do get the game to run, there is no 3D support. It’s just like playing the game on an imax or something, with the ability to use head tracking to control the mouse (and thus, where I’m looking).

Those of you who’ve said you got it working, is that the experience you’re having? Or are you actually getting a full 3D rendering?

    Btw, I’m on the Vive.

It rather sucks to think you are checking in advance if a game is supported only to find out after purchase that it isn’t. I wanted Vorpx for Skyrim and Alien Isolation. But now I’m not sure I even want to try Alien Isolation since I’d have to buy it and then might find out it isn’t supported either. Is there a way to get a refund if Vorpx fails to perform as advertised?

I’ve spent > 10 hours installing a 44.1 MB file – is this normal? I’ve calculated that on average I’m getting < 300 bytes per second … I’ve restarted the download due to the stalling several times – the most I’ve downloaded in a single burst is 18.52 MB – after which the installer stalls and refuses to continue – even when left unattended for > 1.5 hours….
Typically however downloads are not even getting into double digits – these still require > 1 hour to download – even though its < 10 MBytes …
I paid my money – I was really looking forward to trying this product – somewhat disappointed that you can’t even supply a decent server to download from – currently looking for alternatives – I’ll keep trying to download – but if I haven’t received my product within 24 hours of purchase – expect to hear back from me asking for a full refund :(

    Hi all,

I’m not sure what i’m doing wrong, but i don’t seem to be able to get any of the supported games to work. I load vorpx, then run the game from a vorpx created shortcut, but then all i get is the game displaying on the monitor. When i put on the headset, i just get the Oculus lobby…

What am i doing wrong? There’s no Nvidia processes running and and i’ve disabled pretty much everything else i can find..

    Games tested so far:

    Alien Isolation
Skyrim SE (with fallout 4 profile)
    Fallout 4
    ESO

None seem to work. The only one that ironically even acknowledged vorpx was The Assembly, which doesn’t even need vorpx! :(

    Please help!

Thanks a lot for the feedback guys! And thanks for the advice, there’s some stuff I didn’t know. Really appreciate it.

An edge up was what I was looking for, so I’ll go with the Rift. I like the controllers a lot more too (even if I can’t fully use them in skyrim).

I’ll try both original Skyrim and SSE. My processor will be the 6950x and I’m expecting better CPU performance from SSE. I have a pretty good idea what FPS I should be getting as I’ve actually been reading these forums extensively. Although I’m interested to see how well my 3200mhz 14cl ram will change things up.

Been playing a bit getting Skyrim SE working. Seems I might be limited by resolution so will move to normal Skyrim and give it another go.

One thing I did notice though is that I can get 70 fps using G3D at ‘low’ in game display settings if I set my resolution to 1080×1200. I know this aspect ratio isn’t recommended, but it seems the only way for me to get G3D working at native resolution.
This seems to work fine except for UI readability (which I believe there’s a mod for via UI scaling), and some of the UI (conversations) gets cut off.

Any idea if a UI mod might be able to fix that as well?

One other, more important thing: Is there any way to get perfect 1:1 head movement i.e. most importantly remove the camera tilting when you look to the side, and when looking vertically it gets a bit funny as well.

Also, if I tilt my head it works fine until about 30 degress, then I get something like too much vertical movement and not enough sideways: not such an issue but again would be nice to sort out this sort of thing.

Also any idea of how to improve performance would be great. Kind of thinking I need to move to the old version but thought it’s worth asking!

    Hi,

Just got Vorpx and Skyrim SE today and so far setting it up is OK but I’m unsure on a few points:
    1. What aspect ratio should I set for fov 120 120? In the preliminary profile thread Ralf suggests 5:4/4:3 whereas in another thread I see to use 9:8. I’m confused :-P
    2. At your suggested rati, what would be native resolution (or at least a 1:1) for the rift CV1? Or do i set 1080 or so height and then extrapolate from there for example?
    3. What is the target frame rate? Should I aim for 45 with ATW and ASW on, or should either of these be disabled for Vorpx and go higher? I do seem to get judder around a fps of 40 even with them on…
    4. Where can I find out the features of each of the render modes?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the answer Ralf!

The monitors and HMD are connected to the same GPU, should I even try to remove the GPU 2 physically from my pc? I tried to do this vorpx shortcut but didnt see the shortcut anywhere?

I’ll try to disable my anti virus when I next try it. Also I’ll try with only 1 monitor + HMD.

All of the CPU GPU additional monitoring or OSD softwares were shut off at the moment when I tried VorpX. Only steam was on.

I will send the trouble shoot data after some tinkering if I dont get it to work.

Basic operation is pretty straight forward. Normally you just have to start vorpX and then the game. vorpX should automatically hook into known games then. For both games you tried, you will need a profile first since vorpX doesn’t have a default profile for either of these currently.

For Battlefield 1 you can import a custom profile in the vorpX config app (Cloud Profiles page).

For Skyrim SE please use this profile.

Just in case: if you didn’t do so already please also read the Essential Hints Guide in the vorpX help, which contains a few very important infos for beginners in regard to configuring games for vorpX.

Hi, thanks for the reply, most of this knowledge i already had gathered, the problem i found most frustrating was that i had to search and gather this information from other player threads, chats and YouTube, where had it been right up front pinned to the top of the forum, i could have easily found it and been playing for the last day or two instead of spending my time searching for it, also it’s other stuff like do i need SteamVR open as well, I literally just found out that i need the Origin overlay turned off if i want to play BF1, most of your Essential hints Guide only pertains to when your in the game, i couldn’t even get that far, I think you really need to add a FAQ for getting a game started, written up and posted, anyway i think i got how to do this now and i’m going to try again.

    cheers for listening.

I bought the Wearality Sky headset which gives a whooping 150degree FOV and I am using it with Riftcat and VorpX playing Crysis at 1920x1440p which is 4:3 on my Samsung Galaxy S7 with Riftcat set to 2560x1440p.

You get the WHOLE 4:3 screen while playing without having to resort to EdgePeek you can even read the whole game menus the same way. I know it’s using the phone’s sensors to do headtracking but this FOV and image quality blows the rift and vive out of the water looking up at a palm tree against the blue sky is amazing.

Get the Wearality for the 150 degree FOV. Can be used with Riftcat and VorpX. Not to mention playing IMAX 3D you see the whole big screen also without having to headtrack. I vote the Wearality the most impressive VR headset available right now.

    Hi

How far away is the phone from the lenses?

The best way to launch games is launching them directly from your desktop, through Steam/Uplay/Origin etc., not through any app launcher that runs on the headset.

If everything looks “ultra close”, you did not change the field of view (FOV). How that can be done varies from to game. You find a list of options in this regard in the Essential Hints Guide in the vorpX help, which I would strongly suggest to read. This guide explains three very important things that you need to do for each game once.

For Skyrim SE enhancing the FOV is done by typing “fov 120 20” into the game’s console. Check the !Usage.txt inside the ZIP file with the profile for full instructions and make sure to follow them completely, otherwise the profile will not work as intended.

On a sidenote: The original Skyrim in most cases works better with vorpX, so it probably makes sense to use that instead of the Special Edition.

    TL:DR:
Still not working, too much of a headache, don’t have time for all this – how do I get my refund? Thank you.

    FULL POST:

If needed: My Specs (MSI laptop):
    MSI GT80S 6QF
    Intel Core i7-6920HQ
GTX 980 Desktop Class (Dual SLI) 8GB DDR5 (each)
    1TB 7200RPM + 512G SSD (Super Raid)
    32G Ram DDR4

    Still not working.

    ISSUE: (Wash, Rinse, Repeat)
    1) Launched game via steam client
    2) It comes up in my Vive headset,
    3) I then tinker with delete options to fix the extreme closeness
4)While in main screen, console command ~ and type in “FOV 120 120″ can’t read words that appeared after I hit enter, unlegible – so I ignore it
    5) I start up the game – it crashes.

Prior to buying this software, I checked around first (I’m new to VR and PC gaming as of September 2016) I watched some youtube videos and forums. I honestly did not have any expectations, I knew this is a small indie dev. Enough respect there. However, I then researched some more in reddit and found this guy saying:

[–]Fredthehound 1 point 2 months ago
Sky Remasttered will work on VorpX. Ralf (VorpX creator) mentioned it a while back. It might be a short time for the official support till he gets it sorted but IIRC he said the F4 setting will probably cover it till then
Avyually using it is fairly straight forward. You launch Steam/Steam VR, Launch VorpX, Launch VorpX config, Select Skyrim Preset, save, then launch Skyrim.
The standardpreset will get you there and then it’s all tweaking to prefrence. Once you het a handle on how it all works out of the box…Use as much supersampling inside VorpX as your computer can handle and in skyrim’s ini file, set the highest resolution your computer/vive can handle.
You will QUICKLY find that you don’t have as much power as you wish you had. I have a Titan XP and a clocked 4790K and I am saving for Titan #2 because of it.
You will not regret the effort, or the money you throw at this.

    and he also said:

Fredthehound 7 points 5 months ago*
    Open VorpX
    Select the Skyrim ‘preset’
    Launch SteamVR
    Launch VorpX
    Launch Skyrim
    Open VorpX menu
    Change Mouse accel to off
Set 3d sliders (both) to 30
    Set zoom to 68-71
    Learn to use ‘Edge Peek”
    Play Skyrim.
Thats how hard VorpX is to make work great with Skyrim.

    All in this thread:

Is anyone working on a Skyrim for Vive mod?
    byu/TheYang inVive

Thus, my intentions were pure “hey let me support this indie dev and buy the software if it’s really that easy or some “minor” tinkering. (No one really explains how frustrating or headache inducing this can be) I am not a deep techie, surface techie only.

Now that I have VorpX, I must honestly say, this is horrible – for me. Two days now and not working (I bought it just for Skyrim SE) I don’t own OG Skyrim and don’t intend on purchasing it.

I really don’t have time to sit here and go through the hurdles this thing is throwing at me. My time is limited as is to put that much effort into this. I’ll just wait for Fallout 4 VR next year, even if it turns out to be horrible.

I say all that to say this, I appreciate what this software can do for those that have the time to sit there all day and tinker. Kudos. For those like me, time is precious so off time we use it to enjoy, Stay Away. Respectfully, how do I go about getting a refund for this?
