In reply to: Windows Security Alert about VorpControl.exe
RalfKeymasterI uploaded a yet another build, which at least for now also works again on Windows 11. Please reinstall using your web installer to get it. Looks as if my earlier concern that this might be some new Windows 11 “feature” is correct… I’ll try to figure out the root cause.
Just to be clear: absolutely nothing that vorpX does is even close to being “potentially unwanted”, malicious, harmful or anything else some AV program may come up with to frighten its users. All it does is injecting itself into other programs similar to many, many other programs, which obviously is necessary for vorpX to work.
To avoid issues like this altogether add the vorpX program folder to the Defender exclusion list. Usually that would be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Animation Labs\vorpX

DavrosParticipantI’m not trolling I was one of the people who got caught out by IZ3D I have the software but I cant install it all because some company didnt care enough or hated the thought that if they release a final driver that didnt have to authorise someone may install it who didnt pay (the now non existent company)
It’s not just bankruptcy if in future companies build vorpx functionality into their software for their next generation of vr devices or someone releases a freeware or opensource program with the same functionality, vorpx’s income will go to zero. Will the server still be funded. If the worst comes, it should work for as long as you have your current PC main hardware.
And if have to reinstall windows for some reason or get a new pc?
ps: I take it from your answer vorpx will do exactly the same as IZ3DAug 16, 2022 at 5:26pm #212772In reply to: Pimax 12k Support (fov)
mr_spongeworthyParticipantI run a 3080 Ti and Alyx, TWD Saints and Sinners, Assetto Corsa, and a few others I can run at Wide FOV at 100% Steam SS or greater and at very high quality settings.
Sorry but I don’t believe it. I have all these games and a 3080 and I know there’s just no way. Maybe with reprojection. You only get smooth FPS in Alyx because it changes your resolution dynamically according to your performance so you’re not really running 100% SS there.
It wasn’t necessarily easy to get there, but yes, I do indeed get those resolutions and frame-rates. My 3080 Ti is a factory OC model that stays right around 2ghz under heavy load. . Assuming you aren’t CPU bound, however, you may be able to do something similar. Note that at one point I had to do a complete clean reinstall. Old PiTool versions or possibly even Windows updates had messed things up so badly that it was killing my performance.
Here are the titles I can run at Full FOV with no “Smart Smoothing” (I keep a spreadsheet of settings since getting this stuff all working right on Pimax equipment is such a PITA):
Alyx runs at 109% Steam SS at 90 fps except in one single battle scene (Fred? What’s that things name?) That’s with the auto-resolution setting left on and (you can defeat it through an ini tweak). You can also tweak it so you can see which resolution-setting you are actually getting real-time in the HMD. If I run at 75hz or 60hz I get additional clarity, as the title can use the higher-resolution modes more often, but it will maintain 90fps if I prefer the smoothness. IMHO this title is the way all VR games should work. It’s simply amazing how smoothly it transitions up and down those 5(?) resolution modes. If you don’t have it, make sure you use the tweaks for Alyx that remove the PP requirement.
TWDS&S runs at 90fps at 120% in-game SS, 75fps at 130%, and 60fps at 140% (resolution has a HUGE effect as you can see).
AC runs at 60fps at 104% Steam SS, but I don’t need any more performance than that for a seated racing sim. That’s with SOL+CSP+Rain effects at night with tons of special effects. If I wasn’t using all that eye-candy AC would easily hit 90fps and stay there.
Other titles I also run at Wide FOV at 100% or greater Steam SS with no smart smoothing are Dirt Rally 2 and Into the Radius. AFAIK you’ll never get *any* game that requires PP to run at Wide FOV at 90fps at 100% Steam SS. At least, nothing I’ve ever tried will do that. Dirt Rally 2 requires PP and I get 60fps at Wide FOV, 100% SS.
In terms of vorpX performance, that wipe and completely clean reinstall did wonders. I had all kinds of performance issues creep into my rig over time, and they hit vorpX performance worst of all. If you have a second drive you can play with, you might try setting that up as a boot drive, doing a clean install of Windows with only the most basic software you need to get things working, and do a test run to see if you suddenly get a massive performance uplift.
Also, Shadows are often a bigger performance hog than one might expect. In nearly all the title I’ve mentioned I probably have Shadows set to Medium or lower and I’ve also probably turned down particles, so it’s not like I’m getting that performance at Ultra settings across the board. I can usually get away with the highest quality textures and meshes however (if controls for such are available,) which I find very important.
I do wonder, however, how in the world we are going to drive the 12K (if it even becomes a real thing). That’s so many more pixels, and I just can’t stand less than 100% Steam SS, even with something like the VRPERFKIT installed for upscaling. To my eyes the image just falls apart at anything less than that. Here is hoping a 4090 can actually drive a 12K at 100% SS.

mr_spongeworthyParticipantA couple things I’ve noticed:
1) We are really close to a ‘full VR conversion’ already with this mod.
2) Primary issues are G3D shadow issues. The game runs well enough a lot of people could probably hit 60fps in G3D mode, but the profile is not good enough to use.
3) Z3D does work reasonably well however; just play with the setting a lot as the title provides less depth than most in Z3D (I have to push it to max depth in order to get enough to be acceptable)
4) Head tracking works pretty well, my only issue being that it causes momentary instabilities when in mouse mode and I absolutely can’t get the Y Axis to invert (to normal since I play with the stick ‘inverted’)
6) Use it with Post Processing AA, Motion Blur and Blur. I don’t generally like those, but with anything else, and any sharpening at all (either vorpX on in-game), this game gets very shimmery very quickly.Aug 10, 2022 at 3:00pm #212684In reply to: Dream Cycle AWSOME!
SmoilsParticipantthe problem is essentially their game design, not a version – randomly generated levels are completely random with enemies and items spawning inside walls, and since they cant have ai pathfinding in a random mess they generate enemies have to teleport in a crow particles to you and then try to fight in a prefab mess they scattered. Animations and movement is not polished in themselves since its not a big aaa studio and combined with random placement map part jank it just multiplies.
I managed to get it to run at 90 with some ue tweaks in config files and it runs in dx11, well Im using launch parameters to make sure it does because there are only 2 dx12 profiles: cyberpunk and game-that-we-cant-speak-of so essentially just cyberpunk and it doesnt have g3d or z3d in dream cycle even though it hooks.

RalfKeymasterMost of you who know me a bit probably noticed already that contrary to how „good“ advertising works I don’t really like to promise the moon, so just to keep expectations in check a bit:
- This would only with with G3D profiles except for games with positional tracking via game specific DirectVR magic.
- When done via G3D moving the camera over larger distances causes visual glitches in games with more complex deferred renderers.
- May mess up mouse/gamepad rotation in some games.
- Head/face geometry will probably flicker in occasionally when the camera is moved inside/in front of the head.
That said: I will definitely check whether it works well enough in a variety of games and depending on how much of an actual issue the points above turn out to be actually, decide whether it‘s worth it or not.

RJK_ParticipantMany racing games cant be played with Full VR because the head cant be disconnected from the cockpit view. Not shure if VorpX will be able to handle this with the new weapon down function, havent tested that yet. A good solution for this matter is to extend one of the cinema modes to the max in size, then adjust headtracking for your desire. This comes pretty close to real headtracking. Of course you are not able to turn your head around or look up and down. You will always have a small black border remaining. But for the main purpose, getting your head disconnected from the main view its a pretty good solution. Keep in mind you wont be able to adjust FOV in many such games which would make them look awful anyway in Full VR mode.

thomas3dParticipantHello Ghost75757
I use the HP Reverb G2, Pimax 8KX and the Quest 2…I still have the Index and the old Vive…but they’re gathering dust…
I had created a VorpX profile for Outriders, which only works in Z3D…then I reshade Deptht
Tried 3D where I liked the 3D much better…almost like real G3D…
Same goes for Days Gone…
There is also a helix mod for both of them that enables real G3D with perfectly corrected shadows…!!http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2021/06/days-gone.html
http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2021/06/outriders-eac-free-singleplayer-v-100.html
Days gone even now with geo-11 support, which then runs great with the current Nvidia driver…!!
Days gone just looks fantastic again with the helixmod geo-11…!!…There’s nothing like real geometric 3D with perfect shadows and spatial depth…especially at close range…because of the weapon…
I only got Deathloop to work with Reshade Depth3D…also with top 3D depth…!!…madness…!!…it’s so much more fun in 3D…!!!
Just like Evil Dead…doesn’t work with VorpX only with Reshade Depth3D…unfortunately the 3D mode will probably become 2D due to anticheat in multiplayer…Flat…
Once it worked against the AI and in the single player anyway everything was great in 3D…!!!VorpX Viewer also works well for me… only with some games the performance breaks down to such an extent… that I can only play side by side with a 3D projector..
Jul 18, 2022 at 4:16am #212395In reply to: VorpX Desktop Viewer
mr_spongeworthyParticipant@Ghost75757 vorpX definitely has issues with Reshade, sometimes. It does seem to depend on the specific game. Sometimes it will even warn you it won’t work, but then does. If, for some reason, I prefer SuperDepth 3D / VR in a certain title I’ll usually just switch over to Virtual Desktop (avail. on Steam) instead of the vorpX Desktop Viewer. That solution didn’t used to work well because Virtual Desktop was much, much slower than vorpX. But now it’s pretty close. Overall, if the vorpX solution works, it’s usually best to just go that route as it’s easier to setup and a bit faster. I do have some titles however that definitely benefit, for whatever reason, from the SuperDepth solution. And of course, in your case, it sounds like you are running games unsupported directly by vorpX anyway. BTW, switch over to the VR version of SuperDepth; includes AMD sharpening, nice.

thomas3dParticipantHello ghosts!!
Is there an official VorpX profile for Guardien of the Galaxy or just a cloud profile??…is that G3D or just Z3D??….Tested and checked it out a year ago… only ran with Reshade Depht 3D …superperforming and despite Z3D Depht3D conjures up almost geometric 3D even at close range…!!!
The same goes for the anvangers!! Just tested Days Going with Z3D VorpX profile from Paradise Decay…looks pretty good with some typical Z3D depth, but when I started Reshade Depht3D my jaw really dropped!!!… Top 3D
…almost G3D without having to set anything in Reshade on the parameters!!!…which is otherwise not usual that you immediately become friends with the 3D spatial depth…
With Outriders, on the other hand, I had to tinker around a bit in Depht3D…it was also worlds better than the Vorx Z3D profile…especially at close range…body, arm and weapon… Of course you shouldn’t overdo it, otherwise there will be too many artifacts or ghosting around the person…
I guess if Ralf would allow Z3D to further increase the 3D depth at close range, it would also look similar in VorX…
With Deadloop I managed to conjure up excellent 3D close to G3D only with Reshade Depht3D… But that was hard work…had to tweak a few parameters…until the spatial depth finally became playable for me…instead of flat 2D…
Just tested “Evil Dead the Game” yesterday… Looks fantastic in 3D!!! Was afraid to have put the 42 euros for the deluxe version in the 2D sand because of Easy Anticheat…but it worked great with Depht3D!! But I’m still in the tutorial…you have to play through before you can get into multiplayer…
Well… despite the anti-cheat on The Isle and Predator Hunting, it also worked… there, however, with optimal G3D via VorpX… listen and be amazed…!!!
3D greetings to all 3D and VR fanboys and girls *smile*

SenanParticipantI just finished messing with the one on the cloud that claims Geometry 3D is working but it wasn’t for me (absolutely no 3D effect). No effect with Z3D either. I also tried the Planetside 2 profile because I read that it worked for someone else, but no luck. The game hooks and everything, there just isn’t a 3D effect. Funny enough, Geometry is working in original Everquest, despite the game being way older.
I think EQ2 uses some proprietary SOE engine or something so I’m not sure what other profiles to try. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Jul 11, 2022 at 8:19am #211510In reply to: Is there a way to bind edgepeek to a xbox button?
SenanParticipantIs there any reason you couldn’t bind edgepeek and menu to a button combination (like L1 + R1)? It wouldn’t interfere with the in-game actions so much then. As it stands, I’ve almost died several times trying to run in Fallout 76 because I keep accidentally bringing up the menu button. If I change it to start/back, I’m actually unable to open the map because the game itself has a long press action for one of those buttons that interferes with it.
If a button combination option isn’t viable, could we at least have the option to re-map these binds on the gamepad (to whatever button we want), just as we do for the keyboard? Seems like that would be the best solution as it wouldn’t interfere with the default option but would allow us to change it to make it work seamlessly with whatever game we’re playing. Edgepeek is essential for most fullVR games as it’s nearly impossible to navigate menus without (for me anyway) and it’s a pain to have to constantly search for my mouse or keyboard with my VR headset on. This simple addition would make using a gamepad much more enjoyable.
Anyway, just a thought.

CrackerBrand00Participantjust adding on. I’ve had several headsets, and Reverb G2 is at the top of the list *especially* if you are primarily using vorpX. The only reason I could see going with any other headset, is if you wanted to play and master Beat Saber at a very high difficulty level because of the superior tracking… else Reverb G2 is by far the best solution

Z9EUSParticipantHello there
I got a question about the game Enlisted. Enlisted is the free squad-based (MMO) first-person shooter game based around major World War II battles, developed by Darkflow Software and published by Gaijin Entertainment. The graphics are good and the controlling is very easy with mouse and keyboard. One of the best function in this game is that you can look around with your head using the „c“ key will runnig or flying .So you have a field of view 180° by pressing the „c“ key.
My question is now: Is there a chance that i can use my vr headset (oculus quest 2) for watching around while i am using my mouse and keyboard ? What do I have to consider or are there already specific apps for this because i dont saw the game on liste of your websitePS: Sry for my bad english if somebody don’t understand me just ask me where you cant follow me.
