I’m sorry. But either I don’t really understand your original question or you don’t understand my replies. Honestly not sure which of the two it is. :)
vorpX doesn’t change any game files or anything when you enable the override. So getting back to how you had thing before enabling it, is easy: you just disable the override.
However, there are only two options as far as mouse based head tracking and gamepads are concerned:
1. A game works fine with both gamepad and mouse input at the same time: if that is the case, you can leave the X-Box Gamepad Overide disabled since mouse based head tracking doesn’t cause a conflict.
2. A game can’t handle simultaneous mouse and gamepad input: in that case mouse based head tracking will cause a conflict and you need the X-Box Gamepad Overide to use a gamepad together with head tracking.
There is no way to get native gamepad input and mouse based head tracking when a game can’t handle simultaneous mouse and gamepad input. The whole point of the gamepad override is dealing with such a conflict.
I tried adjusting options, but it seems that vorp Control always exits immediately after starting
I’m sure the software that may cause conflict has been turned off

I just started with Vorpx (besides a few short tests in the past) with Metro: Last Light Redux, and I love it a lot!
I’m using the local Vorpx profile that was included in the latest version (Nov 2021).
But I have two issues and maybe these can be fixed?
– First one is that I’m seeing vertical colored bars/stripes at the bottom of my viewing angle. It’s not a deal breaker, but it’s a little annoying so it would be great if there was a way to solve this.
– Second one is giving me some trouble fully enjoying the experience for 100%. I play the game using my xbox controller (I never play with KB/M). Now, when I choose to use controllers as KB/M in the Vorpx menu, I can play and head tracking works great, including looking up and down using the joystick of the gamepad. But not all xbox controller keys are mapped, so there’s stuff I cannot do while playing. When I change the setting to use controllers as gamepad, all keys are mapped correctly and I can play the game perfectly, BUT, after this change, I cannot use the gamepad joystick to look up/down. This is annoying because after playing for a few minutes, the viewing angle can be up, or can be down. And re-centering doesn’t help. The only thing I can do is change from Full VR to another option (I think Immersive), then change the viewing angle with gamepad, then go back to Full VR. Very annoying, so I hope this can be fixed somehow?
Thanks!
OK i tested it. Geometry works for now!
But i have a weird problem now. The performance is actually very good. Im getting 60 fps stable. At least when im not moving. If i just sit in the tractor and look around the cockpit it remains stable at 60 fps. As soon i start driving im getting heavy micro-stutters. Its freezing everything for a second every 5 seconds. Im trying to figure out what causes it, but it seems not to be a busy GPU. No matter what graphics settings and resolution i chose, from lowest possible to highest possible it behaves like that. Ive noticed the stuttering becomes less often after a while. Also it seems to appear when objects (like trees) come into visual LOD distance and are being rendered first time. Then it freezes for about a second. As you drive there are always objects spawning on the edge of the LOD distance and therefore its causing these freezes when you move. As long i don’t move, and no new objects are being rendered in, it stays stable nice at 60 fps.
I remember when that happened. Did some posting about it. Then the problem disappeared for months.. so I wonder if WMR portal occasionally does some updating in the background that isn’t friendly with the vorpx cold.. because it just came back out of the blue and is relentless
@thomas3d,
Thanks for the heads up on the recent beta. I gave it a shot, and here is what I came away with:
– My specs: i7-8700, 16GB RAM, GTX 1070Ti with Valve Index (90Hz, Motion Smoothing On).
– vorpX profile: the only G3D/positional profile in the vorpX cloud.
– After doing a Direct VR scan while in FullVR mode, I was getting too much screen movement (e.g., nothing on the screen was staying in place when looking around). To resolve this, I had to make the following adjustments:
= Had to use Letterbox 2 (Pixel 1:1 had screen movement and looked surprisingly flat; Letterbox 1 had better 3D but enough screen movement to be annoying).
= Had to reduce Image Zoom to 0.77 to get the image to be completely stable. I think this screwed my sense of scale on how big I was relative to the environment.
= 3D scale/strength was around 0.88. The more I increased it, the smaller the environment became, and I really felt like a giant in a small world.
= Once I got a weapon, it was literally out in front of my face, partially obscuring my view. I had to physically step forward to put the gun out of my FOV. Zooming in with the weapon caused the screen to start moving again, so I stopped using zoom real quick.
Your ae correct the game is more fun to play with vorpX, and had better 3D (i.e. you can tell there’s some 3D, but for myself, it is not ‘pop-out’ 3D.
I recently completed Bioshock 2 Remastered, and overall had a great time. Observations are as follows:
– Played on a i7-8700, 16GB RAM. GTX1070Ti with a Valve Index (90Hz, Motion Smoothing On) while standing. I know my rig is old, but three words spell it out (kid in college).
– Played in Full VR with the only adjustments being the HUD display to see things like Health and Plasmid Levels, and deciding how much of the helmet was in my Feld of View.
– I played Remastered over the vanilla version because vanilla was causing so many game crashes I stopped playing the game. Remastered was much more stable for myself, but the visuals were not as clean as what the vanilla version provided. Remastered had its crashes as well, but far less than vanilla.
– Playing while being inside the helmet was great fun. I could actually lean forward with my head, and it felt like I was able to see more of the environment. This was fun because it made me feel like I was inside of the helmet, and greatly enhanced the immersive aspects of the experience.
– My biggest issues were that: (i) my hands/weapons felt too big, (ii) my default height felt too short (but was adjustable if memory serves), and (iii) the weapons had no collision detection, so they often went ‘into’ objects.
– Direct VR usage was essential, and really helped to stabilize the image, and made looking around in the Bioshock universe so enjoyable.
– There were often graphical issues, like where shadows did quite match with objects, or where background items had a different blackness level compared to nearby objects, but ultimately were non-issues before vorpX was able to put me in the Bioshock universe in a way that I enjoyed.
I played Bioshock 1 on a flatscreen about three years ago, and had a great time. I’ve played the Bioshock-themed workshop level on Half-Life Alyx, and also had a great time. Bioshock 2 Remastered was better because I got to live in the world while experiencing a full campaign with an engaging storyline.
Thank you for the input on the tracking. For the severe ghosting issue, I really don’t think that’s the issue because I tried all of that it didn’t make any change to the ghosting… It was bad as ever when I used Fluid Sync. I’m really hoping that the OP would respond to my question, since he’s using the same headset. I just want to know what settings he’s using in the game and in the Nvidia control panel.
Make sure to run games windowed or ‘borderless’
That´s where i had severl problems with a few DX12/Vulcan games, they were constantly causing troubles, switching to windowed or borderless mode didn´t do it, or at least caused troubles to the point where i got tired of trying and just ran them with bigscreen instead, where they as well were causing a few trobules here and there, but generally did its job.
One game tho, where i had success running it in vorpX windowed mode, is OUTRIDERS, which runs extremely well on vorpX desktop.
Now i was looking for a way to make different game-profile-save-slots for each game i am playing in vorpX-Desktop-Mode, similiar to how i can save each game-profile when hooking into each game, but didn´t found that option yet.
Hellgate London (G3D)
I made a new profile for this game because the first one didnt have any shader fixes and there was a user mismatch with the cloud profile. This one should look better, certain menu items remain abit out of depth because they were using the same shader as the main character. Just dont give the HUD too much depth and your good to go.
– Full VR with Headtracking
– Profile available at the cloud

not sure if it was your profile because it wasn’t the same name, but it did say based off of Ori.. didn’t seem very 3d, but somehow made my eyes hurt.. not disrespecting your effort, just trying to give good feedback. thanks for your work (if it’s yours)
I was trying to play Observer today (original not Redux) with Vorpx and my Xbox One gamepad and it was just an absolute exercise in frustration. Sometimes the gamepad would seem to work fine. And then–without me changing anything at all–all the buttons on my gamepad would just stop working. I could move with the joysticks but couldn’t interact with anything. Then other times, the joysticks would also stop working, and I couldn’t even move. I was just completely stuck.
I understand that this is probably related to the fact Vorpx uses mouse controls for headtracking and sometimes games get confused between m/keyboard input and gamepad input … but what is the solution for me as a Vorpx user? How am I supposed to get around this problem? Do I just need to disable head tracking completely or is there another way to fix it?
Whether there is or is not a solution, I feel like there should be a stickie in the forum about this issue because it seems to be a long standing one that isn’t limited to just me. A google search for “vorpx gamepad controls seem broken” will get you an endless series of hits like those below:
Was something changed with gamepad settings?
Gamepad unusable with VorpX. Switches to keyboard controls
Skyrim gamepad Y-Axis broken after VorpX update
Head Tracking breaks when using a controller in some games
Update broke input?
Etc.
Ralph can we get a stickie on potential work arounds for this problem?
Tried my best to go through and uninstall/close anything that would be interfering and still couldn’t get it working. Tried with a fresh install of Windows 11 with the only things installed bar what is auto installed being what I need to run a.k.a. Oculus, Origin, Titanfall 2 and VorpX. Still wouldn’t work. Tried again to go through what is running on my computer but couldn’t find anything to close that fixed it.
I do have an internal GPU in my CPU but my BIOS doesn’t appear to have an option to disable it. This is the only game so far that straight up refuses to run with VorpX.
Don’t know if this is normal for when a game won’t hook but it pretty much just gives me a white screen with the “Attaching to…” box over it and then closes Titanfall 2 and the “Attaching to…” box a few seconds (sometimes it takes longer, around 30 seconds) after they first show up. I’m kinda out of ideas on what to do from here :(
Is there anything in Windows 11 that would cause it to do this?
Updated profile available in the cloud.
While I was at it I also added a scalable HUD and some instructions. Make sure to check them in the top/left corner of the game window. After following the instructions (just setting up FOV and resolution) everything should work right in FullVR mode.
Caveat 1: If you already saved settings for the profile before, make sure to reset the profile to default after importing. Otherwise your saved settings override some new optimized defaults.
Caveat 2: Please consider the profile semi official. Was never added to the supported games list since head tracking can cause a bit of image jitter for some reason. Still playable.
thats great news i love Z3D anyway, barely a performance hit and the 3d is just like in the cinema at the movies, and the definitive editions arent as detailed as gta v or red dead i wouldnt wanna play them in full vr,immersive screen should be awesome, only if i could fking play them because rockstar removed them from my library after i payed 60$ ill wait for a good crack and get a refund.
