In reply to: Rank your 5 best Vorpx games.
TiggerdyretParticipantSince I only mentioned my top three I’d like to add TES:Oblivion to the mix. It’s probably my number 2 and IMO is much better than Skyrim and Fallout because of perfect hand models. It runs great even with 4k, Unique Landscapes mod and TES4LodGen on ultimate, which makes it look even better than Skyrim. I do admit I have a GTX 1080 TI, but I honestly think the game is bottled-necked by either the cpu or the engine itself and not the GPU. This is probably my favorite Bethesda game of all time and I’m happy to say it also runs just as good as Fallout NV and much better than Skyrim and Fallout 4 with Vorpx. If you liked SKyrim and never played Oblivion than there has never been a better time than now!
Mods that enhance VR (all can be found on http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion):
– FOV Modifier (A must! For a constant FOV)
– Oblivion Stutter Remover (Must for smooth framerate)
– Enhanced Camera
– Dot Crosshair
– Darnified UI
– Loot Menu (tweak the mod’s ini to fit inside the vorpx screen)
– Hud and Camera Toggler (set hotkey in mod’s ini file. Google “oblivion key code” to find out the codes for different keys)Look through this list for Gameplay mods:
http://demwaifus.blogspot.dk/2015/10/oblivion-modding-guide.html
And this for graphic mods (be conservative):
https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/47591/?
Be warned Oblivion is a crash fest compared to Skyrim, so don’t through to many big overhauls into the mix all at once!Oct 3, 2017 at 8:15am #167445In reply to: Support for X3 (TC/AP)
tathunderParticipantIs there anyway the head tracking could be changed, so it isn’t locked on the mouse but instead uses the range set by the numpad keys(the default keys used to look around the cockpit)?
Sep 23, 2017 at 6:17pm #167226In reply to: Request: Diorama 3D mode
RJK_ParticipantIn Tombraider 1-5 (Opentomb, which is a free opengl renderer of the game series.) the headtracking works perfectly. The camera does not follow the mouse. The camera can be movend with left-right-up-down keys and also be headtracking of course. This is how it should be in a third person game.
Sep 17, 2017 at 8:22pm #167102Topic: Thumbs up from a pioneer
in forum General vorpX Discussion
ohgrantParticipantI guess I’m as close to a VR pioneer as it comes. I’ve been experiencing 3D and VR for about 20 years now. My first HMD, which I still have and use, is a Emagin Z800. I’ve had the DK’s 1 and 2 and now the Oculus CV1 with touch. I’ve used VorpX for about a year now. Still surprising how some older games are so great in VR and some are still better just playing in 3D on my DLP projector. In my opinion, great games that are also great in VorpX VR, are few and far between. The ones that are real gems make it all worth while because they have so much more content and replay ability. A few games that are like that for me are. F.E.A.R. and the old opengl game Star Trek Elite force. Was a delightful surprise to get Elite Force to work, I have all the community mods for that game, and have been playing it in VR for many years on my old system. Crazy how that game is so wonderful in VR, the 3D is perfect and fully supported. There are so many games from back then that are better VR experiences than a lot of the made for VR games today. Many of those games are earlier versions of Direct X and not supported by the VorpX driver. Would be great to get support for older direct X games. I would even purchase as an in app add on. Another great in app purchase would be voice recognition with programmable keystroke replacement ability. For my old set-up I use my Microsoft Game Voice. Would be great to have a modern equivalent to that.

YohaskanParticipantI tried with another mode from the menu :
“Vive hand Controler Settings”,
– Controller Mode, set to “GamePad”
But then, no buttons respond except the EdgePeek.
the game does not see the Vive Controller at all as a “GamePad”, only Vorpx sees it.Other Adjustment Issues
How to use “Crouch / Jump” feature?
If enabled, the headset must start the command to lie down or raise up if it detects that the height has change no?
I tested with the default values, and trying other but it does not react. even having put the right KeysSep 10, 2017 at 10:09am #166949In reply to: VR Racing Games
RJK_ParticipantRolf wrote: switch to cinema mode (“Ambience” or “None” scene) and move the screen closer until it fills the entire view.
I ve tried the options you have mentioned. There is a look around option with two keyboard keys i can route to a controller number but couldnt manage the vorpx ingame settings (controller). They are not very self explaining (for me).
I finally (was not perfect, but at least i was able to move my head without moving the whole cokpit with it) by swithing over to cinema mode and pulling the screen a little closer. (i think i used screen offset set to -1.0).
Not close enough, the slider was pulled all to the left, a thick black border was still seen. For such cases a lower value of may be -2.0 would be good. But the slider doesnt go so far down.
If anyone manages to use “Opentrack” please report here.
BTW: Ralf please dont remove any options in futher versions, i cant have enough of them, may be rather explain them extensively ;-)
Sep 8, 2017 at 10:30am #166886In reply to: Is there a way to bind edgepeek to a xbox button?
TiggerdyretParticipantYes, use xpadder or something similar. I use a paid app called Pinnacle, which is more flexible and powerful than the free solutions. How I set it up is a case by case basis. For New Vegas I setup the whole mapping through Pinnacle, while I only mapped edge peek and reset view on top the native controller mapping in Dishonored and Bioshock even though those buttons already did something else it worked like a charm. I changed Vorpx hotkeys for the edge peak and reset to Home and End instead of Mouse 3 and alt+space and then mapped the controller to End and Home.
With Pinnacle you can do other cool stuff. Like having the whole button layout change, when you hold certain buttons, to make room for more hotkeys, or have the right stick only move the on X-axis, and much more.

YohaskanParticipantSame thing here, but for a sitting game who work better with a gamepad controller.
In VR, is touchy to found the good key in blind
If not, can it be via external software?Edit: I have already a software for remap keystroke with my Gamepad controller (Scp Toolkit Manager PS3 to Xbox) and it’s works now

PaulobParticipantHey Nivarius,
I have the same problem Skyrim looks great these days with Vorpx it is just a shame you can’t remap the keys of an Xbox controller it should function just as it does in Skyrim running without Vorpx I leave it set to keyboard and mouse so the Xbox controller works there is a way to remap the keys but I would be very careful doing this and back up your save files, I some how changed a key or something to using thumb moving to open the map so I had to restore my save files lucky steam keeps a backup so I did not lose any saves but it’s better to keep a backup on a separate USB HDD.
There is a feature in the Vorpx menu you get to by pressing Del key to allow you to remap your keys but I would be extremely careful using this feature, the main thing I’m missing is the shortcut bar, shame it doesn’t work the same as in Skyrim.Sep 6, 2017 at 11:59am #166845In reply to: touch controllers for skyrim
prinyoParticipantCool, got it, everything works really well :-)
I have a problem with the Vive’s controllers design and the trend to make the touchpad react to touch and not press. Because when hold normally the thumb wants to rest there and this produces effects in the game I was not expecting to happen. But I guess that’s what the touch pad is for and as more games adopt this control scheme I’ll need to get used to hold the wands in a specific way.
But that’s not really VorpX related. The only thing I’m wondering is if I can make the pointer for the VorpX menu react to wasd so I can get rid of the arrow keys completely.Edit:
After I posted this I realized it is not possible to remap the arrow keys. So I guess it is not possible to put key mappings on the right trackpad the way it is in Shift mode. There is only one button that can be mapped – by default Ctrl.Sep 6, 2017 at 2:46am #166840In reply to: touch controllers for skyrim
RalfKeymasterYou can either assign the according hotkeys to the controllers or open the vorpX menu and then click the according button. The latter probably makes more sense in most cases since it doesn’t waste buttons that are better used for actual game actions.

SumTing2WongParticipantBrand new consumer Rift w/touch and newest vorpX, on I5-6600, 32GB, GTX1070. SkyrimSE looks about as I expected (I play 2d in 3840 res on HDTV so at 1920 I knew it would be not as sharp). It’s still awesome though except for one thing: no matter how mapped (either arrows nor wasd) the left joystick on the touch will not respond for run/walk, preventing any movement at all. I reset both SkyrimSE profile and vorpX profiles back to default several times, with the same result. Other “keys” work fine as mapped. My next step would be a re-install of vorpX but it’s basically a clean install basically to start with. I’m using arrow keys to move and mouse to look in 2D normally (left handed mousing). I don’t have an xbox controller to test with. Any ideas? The controller seems to be fine, works great in Oculous home screens. I did just try Oculous’ Robo Recall as a test also (wasn’t impressed) and both controls worked fine there. Also just tried one of the shared configs, no change.
Aug 2, 2017 at 12:25pm #166086Topic: ARMA 3 issues
in forum Technical Support
PiraneousParticipantI’m over this shit…
trying to get ARMA 3 to be remotely usable with vorpx and my vive. I’ve managed to get it to load in using the headset by using the desktop shortcut (which I have to spam a few times before it actually loads). Cannot load at all through the usual steam launch method (yes I have added the 64 bit exe to an arma 3 profile in vorpx config).
when I’m finally in game i’m getting no sterio at all. its just the standard screen showing through the headset which means everything skews in weird ways when you look around. I’ve tried all the in-game keystrokes to change 3d mode etc but achieved nothing except pulling out my compass, or taking a step forward etc.
another major game breaking issue is my mouse does nothing except fire or zoom in (i.e. the buttons work but not the directional stuff). I have setup opentrack so that the headset tracks in the game as I want but without any mouse control, I can only walk forward, back, strafe left and right.
I’ve tried googling but mainly come up with occulus SDK posts from 3 years ago which are absolutely no use to me.
I’m running windows 10 on a I7-6400, with a GTX 1080, 16gb ram using a HTC vive.
any help would be appreciated

RalfKeymasterWe have sent 8 messages to your G-Mail address (rya…@gmail.com), which is the one you activated vorpX with, between 7/14 and yesterday (7/19) incl. new download links and registration keys.
Please check your spam folder, it’s extremely unlikely (read next to impossible) that mails to G-Mail just vanish.

Topic: Thumbs up from a pioneer
I guess I’m as close to a VR pioneer as it comes. Would be great to have a modern equivalent to that.

another major game breaking issue is my mouse does nothing except fire or zoom in (i.e. the buttons work but not the directional stuff).
