Can anyone confirm G3D still works?

I booted 76 today to find geometry not working anymore. I tried both Pimax and rift with the same result. Z3D works fine, but G3D is flat.

I know the game has had heavy updates this month. Not sure if the profile needs updating, or if it’s something on my end. If you get a minute let me know.

Just in case you were still struggling, I’ve uploaded my settings now to the cloud. Under “The Hunter” not “theHunter”. Try if you wish.

Try the cinema mode for easier PDA, or switch to fullVR if headtracking and world scale is more important. See what you think of each. I personally prefer fullVR in my rift, but cinema fullscreen looks better in my Pimax8k.

Note that you can adjust the HUD in vorpX menu to be more in view if you prefer. I like having it out of sight and just glance at it when I need to.
(If you use Z-normal 3D, restore all HUD sliders to 1.0 to stop flicker)

Full antialiasing (FXAA + TAA) in game options will look best. Try to use a resolution of 2560×1440 or higher if you can.

Is this your first vorpX game?

Call of the Wild has gotten an official profile since Yohaskan’s. It now has G3D support even. It should already be the default in your Local Profiles list. You can reimport it from the cloud if you need to. Search “The Hunter” not “theHunter”.

When using G3D you’ll likely need to start the game a 2nd time to fix most of the glitchy shadows and grass. You can even turn the shadows off in vorpX menu if that helps.

If the view just looks too zoomed in, you can switch to cinema mode and choose a zoom level and curve that feels better. This is how I play. I use a zoom of about -0.90 with near full curve. Also check that the Field of View setting is set to max 90 in the Call of the Wild game settings.

If you want to play this way in cinema mode and need further help, let me know and I can upload some settings.

It’s possible Empire and Napoleon are dx9, I can’t remember. If the New games are dx11 (?) that could explain why they wouldn’t hook at all.

If you haven’t already, it might be worth trying the “Unity 5 Base Profile” which I believe hooks dx11. Pretty sure I used a unity variant for Napoleon.

After that you could try profiles from other common engines to try your luck. Unreal 4, Cryengine 4, maybe even Assassins Creed Unity and Life is Strange: Before the Storm (these have surprised me a few times). Alien Isolation is another I would try, as it is listed as being loosely based off the same Warscape engine.

I probably tried some 15+ profiles before I got Napoleon working. You don’t always get lucky, but I’ve been surprised how often you can get at least Z3D to work.

Pretty sure D2 is Z3D only at this point, with no word on whether that will change (sorry steph). They moved to a new id based engine in 2 that vorpX doesn’t yet fully support.

Have you tried the first one though? I recall that being pretty good G3D.

Edit: beat me to it :)

I’ve yet to update my pitool, as the last time I tried a beta build it gave me significantly worse performance in a vorpX game I had been playing. So I reverted back.

I’d be kinda curious to try the new fixed foviated render feature though. Have either of you tried that out with vorpX? I’m not sure if it applies directly to the games rendered resolution or just the sampled pass through steamvr after. If it were the later, I can’t imagine it would net any real performance gain.

On occasion when I launch swbf2 or bfv it can look very pixely (menu included), and I’ve found that toggling the crystal image option on the image page of the menu can fix it. See if that helps any.

I think Witcher 3 will very likely save us. And if not perfect on day one, I have to imagine this game will take top priority on the asap list – much like an Elder Scrolls or Fallout.

Been testing out W3 G3D this week actually and adding a few mods. Looking pretty good. Soon time to restart this big adventure, this time in VR!

Nice, let us know how it looks with your Reverb. I’ve got my finger hovering over the button, itching to get one myself.

I’ve had some crashing these past 2 months as well (mainly with SWBF2, BFV, and ACOdyssey) though I’m hesitant to single out vorpX, since around the same time of the update I installed a new graphics card, new drivers, and new Pimax8k. Not to mention the games themselves have been patched often.

One oddity I want to point out in case it’s of any use to vorpX, is how I’ve noticed both the Frostbite games will inevitably freeze crash my headset (but not hardlock PC), to the point that only a full system reboot will remove the freeze-frame from the hmd. Rebooting only the hmd will not resolve it.

This can happen in 1 minute from launch, or in 20 minutes. It’s happened in both G3D and Z3D.

Not sure why this is happening, but it didn’t used to. No other games seem to have this freeze-frame problem for me.

I’ve been waiting for this to go on sale before I give it a go in vorpX.

It’s not officially supported, but is said to run on the same engine as The Hunter: Call of the Wild, which is supported. This means a copied profile might work. In fact someone has already put one on the cloud claiming G3D.

If you’ve tried Call of the Wild in G3D, you’ll know it has a couple issues with grass, shadows, and scopes not looking quite right. Perhaps these might carry over to GZero too. (I’ve wondered if the grass might be fixable with the authoring tool)

The Z3D option is still a good option, and currently how I enjoy Call of the Wild. It’s very likely it will work just as well in GZero.

Also note that it wont have DirectVR, so you might have to experiment a bit to find good FOV and headtracking values.

Nice! You should tell draku about this. He’s been asking about it this past month. See post.

vorpX seems to accept about any resolution you like.

    I like to make steps of 0.1 for testing. (1920 x 1.1 = 2112 and 1440 x 1.1 = 1580 gives me a step up to 2112×1580).
Or steps of 0.5 might scale better to the hmd. (1920×1440 x 1.5 = 2880×2160)

Add some 10 – 20 custom resolutions to your graphics driver, and they should show up in most of your games to choose from. Then just find which looks the best within your performance margin.
