Since you suggested there might be in issue with vorpX and UE4, trying the profiles you mentioned with the games they were made for was useful to determine whether there is such an issue or not.

Since that’s not the case the only remaining option is that there have been some changes to the game that broke the exisiting user profiles. I’d love to tell you something more helpful, but since the game is neither supported nor did I ever even check it myself, I just can’t. Sorry for that. I’m pretty sure I have it sitting in my Steam library though, so if time permits I might take a closer look later.

    Ahhh got it now.
Indeed I played other UE4 games succesfully….I’m currently playing the main campaign in Aquanox Deep Descent and it looks georgeous in G3D.
So yeah it seems to be specific to that game and it was working before.

Ok then! thanks for the update!
VorpX is an amazing tool I even gifted it to a good friend of mine.

    Cheers!

Just checked Hellblade, What Remains of Edith Finch and Mordhau for you with the currently released vorpX version. No problems with these games, so the profiles are OK. I can only assume that there have been some changes to Remnant of the Ashes, that invalidated the existing user profiles as well as making the game fail with other UE4 profiles. Can’t really say anything more specific though since I never tried the game.

Apart from that a full factory reset might be worth a try, just in case some settings changes you made caused the issue. You can do a factory reset in the config app under trouble shooting. That’s a bit of a long shot though in this case.

On a sidenote: if you have a soft spot for sad stories (and don’t despise ‘walking simulators’), What Remains of Edith Finch is well worth the 2-3 hours it takes.

ahhh hahahh no thanks. Indeed Walking Simulators are boring for me. Thanks anyway..

I didn’t understood what you tested, I wasn’t interested on those games but in Remnant from the Ashes heheheh

What a shame, Remnant from the Ashes was fantastic in G3D. :*(

Improved hooking timing/safety: fixes some DX12 games not hooking anymore since Microsoft split the d3d12.dll into two separate DLLs a few weeks ago. Also improves hooking reliability with some games that initialize DirectX very early in their launch process.

Could this be also an issue in DX11 games like Remnant from the Ashes?
It is an unreal4 game that was working perfect in G3D and it simply stopped working, I can still find G3D profiles in the cloud that do not work anymore and I was also playing it in G3D, so …. not sure what happenned, is a similar bug?

    Great update features.
I was about to mention to have a better detail of the current profile being used (because sometimes we need to create a copy of the .exe file to run a custom one).
so this feature will improve it:
    – User profile comments are now displayed in the top left corner of the game window instead of just as tooltip in the config app.

Not sure what is going on but I was playing this game with G3D and suddenly it stopped working and now I keep finding profiles on the cloud that were listed also as G3D but right now no one works in G3D….all profiles work with Z3D Normal/Adaptive and those are no close at all on how good it was with G3D.

    HELP ? anyone?

I’ve been trying other profiles like those recommended:

Conan exile, Hellblade, Mordhau, and Edith Finch but no luck so far.

Remnant from the Ashes is Unreal4 what other profiles I could check?

“Is it difficult to create hand models and tracking for these? ”

Well you have to be a developer of each game to answer that, it depends also on how much the engine the game is using that can assist you on developing it.
So I should say in general to be …yes… VERY DIFFICULT.

If the game allows mods, great, but the tracking of the VR controllers has to be supported in advance and other factors be ready before the modder can even think of modifying the control scheme or even adding models or interactions between models, etc.

So basically in general: forget it, is out of your reach as a player to add these.

In my case I just open VorpX only when I’m about to use it and close it from the taskbar, the service is working but not triggered so it’s all good.
Is the most simple solution for me.

Needless to say i was almost about to abandon VR because the exclusive VR games just really didn´t do it for me, i am still more for a relaxed way of gaming and not really having fun with jumping around while swinging arms in a almost hysterical way while trying to hit and dodge enemies.

But there are native VR games to play seated …and I have to say that there are a LOT of those.
You just need to get those types of controls, and you will get full VR around you with the way to control as you want.

Check The Persistence to give an example, it uses a normal gamepad:

If you export the official GTA V profile, only the user part is exported, then you can do your experiments and later easily reimport the exported settings to go back to the prior state. You can also switch between multiple sets of settings for one profile this way.

    ?????
what? and how do I experiment if I cannot use any different profile besides the original that I cannot change at all?

    I didn’t understood at all.
Can you please explain me or someone how do I make Remnant:from the ashes to use the G3D profile back again?

I was playing this game with beautiful G3D then after an update I can see the official VorpX profile but this “new and official profile” killed G3D and now it is only z-normal or z-adaptive, in the meantime I can still see a Remnant G3D profile available in the cloud since previous versions…
HOW DO I USE it again in G3D ?? I cannot assign the exe file, the exe file is assigned to the official new VorpX profile…it cannot be removed and therefore is not allowing me to play in G3D as I was playing before.

    Thanks!

not sure if Ralph can provide a better insight if there is a way to pull G3D on Pinball FX3.
I ended up using HelixVision to play it in 3D but I will prefer to have also VorpX at the same level.

I uploaded a video at that time:

And I later updated the video stating that it was not working anymore
but, now I can read Ralf explanation:

There is however an explanation why some may experience an existing user profile as (partially) 3D. The first version of vorpX’s OpenGL render path used alternate frame rendering, which means the left and right eye are rendered at different points in time: left at frame 1, right at frame 2, left at frame 3, right at frame 4, and so on. Given these circumstances moving sideways (strafing) happens to have a similar effect as rendering two images for stereo 3D although vorpX doesn’t create any stereo 3D at all. Moving forward/backward doesn’t produce correct stereo 3D, but apparently some still experience what they see as 3D. My personal guess is that maybe their brains somehow try to make sense of the (garbage) input. I’d consider it way more likely though that you will experience anything else than strafing as weird and unpleasent, so try at your own risk.

At some point someone uploaded a user profile based on this (long superseeded) old OpenGL alternate frame implementaion, which then caused this whole Doom G3D confusion.

    and thanks for this explanation!

I could swear to you that at certain moment I played Doom 2016 with that effect then, because I still remember seeing the effect on ladders and doors and it was certainly not a flat image at all.

Wait NSAgent… Geometry 3D? but what profile were you using?
Isn’t Cyberpunk using a new version of the Witcher 3 engine? I mean to check the profiles
