ParticipantvorpX only works with videos locally, technically you could do it with SBS and vorpX’s Desktop Viewer but that won’t work with 360° videos on Youtube. For that your best bet is to use an app designed for it like Youtube VR (Oculus Store, Steam’s sucked hard af last i checked for WMR at least) or DeoVR Video Player (you may need to manually configure it for 360° videos).

ParticipantThat has nothing to do with vorpX though, no idea why it’d take you ages either. Check https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/custom-resolutions-for-the-direct-vr-settings-optimizer/page/3/#post-207832 to implemment only the resolutions you need and are supported by your monitor/tv.

ParticipantNothing has changed and things already worked as they should so what do you mean by “the topic not pursued further”? I don’t own a 3D tv but everything is there already, been there ever since and 3D tv tecnology became obsolete so it hasn’t changed either

ParticipantFrom everything i tried with my WMR i could never make vorpX work with openXR, nor any other app for that matter other than the demo with hit and miss success. There are actually many reports about openXR being broken for WMR in general and many ppl have similar problems which tend to arise/dissappear as updates come out.
I got a Quest 2, just had to make Oculus the main OpenXR runtime and everything worked perfectly out of the box, imo the main problem is that with WMR there’s more than one brand so things tend to be quite different from one headset to another even within the same ecosystem.

ParticipantNot all games have DirectVR, if you try Alt+L and nothing happens chances are the game you’re trying doesn’t. When starting a game for the first time you should get all of vorpX advices in the top left corner of the window in your monitor and also tell you whether it has DirectVR or not and how to use Alt+L.
Never really tried the gamepad override, vr controls make for lousy gamepads; i would recommend you to save for a ps4 controller.

ParticipantUnless you’re planning to upgrade your entire system to something like 12th gen Intel for DDR5 use don’t bother, though if you can get a better cpu for your socket go for it, the i5 9400F has relatively low base core speed (2.9 GHz when most are already @ ~4.0 GHz) and while it may seem like an obvious upgrade, the differences in performance are minimal (the best cpu of your generation, the 9900KS has a performance of only 10% higher while having 8 cores).
You’re much better off upgrading your GPU, specially to something like a 3080TI/3090 as those are almost TWICE (75% according to benchmarks) as powerfull as their previous generation counterpart (specifically 2080 Super, half for the 2080Ti, unlike with cpus there is quite a difference between gpu models), and just as expensive. Which simply doesn’t happen with cpus as even the best and newest (i9 12900KF) is barely more powerful than your cpu (with an improvement of only 34% while being a 16 core cpu).

ParticipantThat has nothing to do with vorpX, maybe try the official oculus forum?

ParticipantFor future reference, what’s the correct way to disable EAC so it works with vorpX?
If i remember correctly, rename/move the start_protected_game.exe then rename the eldenring.exe to start_protected_game.exe in the C:\…\steamapps\common\ELDEN RING\Game folder, it will disable EAC as well as online.

ParticipantIt works, just disable EAC unless you wanna get soft/banned

ParticipantAfaik it already is since ~5-6 patches ago. Wanted to try Halo but never got to do it and atm i don’t have the time

ParticipantDo you have the controllers to Oculus’ or Automatic? I had a similar problem but choosing the WMR controllers specifically solved it, no idea why Automatic wouldn’t work.

ParticipantA friend of mine fried his cpu bc the fan somehow fell off (vibrations ended up unscrewing it i guess) and he didn’t notice ’till the cpu died but melting a mobo? Is such a thing even possible nowadays?

ParticipantSure, that’s how i play GTAO as my main account is on Steam. They’ve given away Alien Isolation too, overall they’ve given a few great games here and there and keep giving’em away so not a bad deal for free.

ParticipantIt tries to load (similar screen transition as with SteamVR but with the OpenXR logo) but then it hangs/crashes with a visible black screen flicker and the WMR Portal restarts again. Then in the WMR OpenXR dev tool the “system status” tab changes from displaying all the information, configuration and extensions to this:
Exception XrResult failure [XR_ERROR_LIMIT_REACHED]
Origin: xrCreateInstance(&createInfo, instance.Put())Same thing happens when i try to run the dev tool demo, it’s a generic error so no idea what causes it and from the link the devs found nothing from logs so hard to say what could be the problem atm. The person having the same problem started with an Acer H101 (same hmd as mine) but then tried a Reverb G2 with same results so it’s definitely not my hmd.
In contrast, when trying vorpX nothing happens in the hmd, the dev tool doesn’t changes either and vorpX just gives the “severe error” warning, then the window opens with the vorpX logo as normal but the hmd never registers anything and stays in the Cliffhouse.

ParticipantNo luck running it and for some reason even the demo stopped working. All i could find was this support thread:
That’s my situation, from the responses it seems there’s still a few bugs to work out as they couldn’t find the cause, atm it’s not that big of a problem so hopefully they’ll fix it in the next couple updates
