It works with the Conan Exiles profile. Make sure you select the right executable, pacify-win64-shipping.exe, not pacify.exe.

Well, that’s a start, but your statement about it being impossible to play on Quest 2 needs more detail.

Anyway, it’s a Renderware game according to Wikipedia and there are several G3D profiles for games that use that engine, so it may be doable.

It doesn’t sound like you have a custom resolution for that setup in nvidia/amd control panels. Some games go to windowed mode when they can’t find a matching fullscreen resolution. The refresh rate also needs to match – probably 60hz for that game.

The source engine in particular is kind of flaky. Unless you’re desktop resolution matches or exceeds the game resolution, It will keep defaulting back to the desktop res. At least that’s what it does with HL2.

    @onetoo

You obviously didn’t read the part where he specifically states that he is adding the games to the excluded list. Please enlighten me as to how to get G3D with a game that hasn’t been hooked by vorpx, since you apparently think it’s possible.

I don’t think a different profile is going to make any difference. The game hooks for me without a profile, as long as I’m not running fullscreen. You can try turning off the option to block game overlays to see if it makes any difference. The alternative hooking method doesn’t work, so no need to try that.

If you can find a copy of tridef (I heard there was an unlocked version on reddit), it works well using the generic tridef profile, and isn’t impacted by the game’s anti-aliasing. I’d use virtual desktop and crank up the supersampling a bit to improve the image quality, if your gpu can handle it.

Supposedly, the GUI and controller setup are going to be reworked, which kind of implies better weapon handling. Hopefully they’ll ditch that klunky radial wheel for something more usable.

Anti-cheat systems are overzealous; they block things that couldn’t possibly be used for cheating. A lot of them, however, will actively block access to a games depth buffer since it can, in theory, be used to cheat in first person shooters. That alone kills the possibility of z3d, and probably g3d as well.

I don’t think Vorpx can be whitelisted. It’s hooking mechanisms don’t have a digital signature saying “hey, vorpx here, can I please have access”. You’d be better off looking for hacks that bypass the anti-cheat system.

play at desktop resolution and default game fov and you will have a bad time

Discounting fov, my native desktop resolution is 2560×1440 which is ideal for playing games with a headset, and it is close to the native resolution of the rift-s. 4K is complete overkill unless you’ve got an hmd that can render it and a gpu that can drive it a good framerate.

But back to the topic at hand, I think most of the criticism regarding vorpx are from people who were expecting a perfect plug-and-play experience. There are usually issues to be overcome up front, like disabling game overlays and av programs that can block vorpx.

What you’ve got to realize is that vorpx doesn’t modify the games, it merely renders what would have displayed on a 2d screen in 3d. Certain things like headtracking rely on the games mouse input, which with some games has the side effect of the game alternating between keyboard/mouse and controller input.

It’s worth the $40 I paid for it 10 times over. It’s not perfect, nothing is, but it breathed new life into my gaming experience.

I wouldn’t be buying from big brother, but that’s just me.

You’re not using vorpx for anything other than a desktop viewer. If that’s all you want, you could have saved yourself some money and bought Virtual Desktop. It costs substantially less than vorpx and is superior in that regard, and I can think of at least 3 free desktop-to-hmd apps out there to do the same thing.

Whatever. This started out as an interesting topic but it’s degraded into a wtf sort of thing. You can call it an immersive screen if you want, but if it’s flat it’s not very immersive, imo.

You can also try different windowed modes. Some games can’t be hooked in fullscreen mode.

You can try the alternate hooking method, or unchecking the “block known game overlays” to see if makes any difference. They may have put some kind of protection on the game – no way around that if that’s the case.

You need to change that in whatever profile(s) you were using before. It sounds like they’ve done something to the game though – It should be hooked by vorpx without a profile (it would be 2d, but you’d know that vorpx was hooking it).

I think that you don’t provide enough info for anyone to respond to.

Did they change the name of the executable or just the title?
