I am having the exact same problem. Both x and y axis are inverted when Virtual Cinema mode is disabled. I have tried inverting both in vorpx settings and ingame settings. Nothing is seeming to work. Going to try re-installing vorpx. The games i tried are battlefield 4 and the witcher 3. im using oculus rift cv1

Basic operation is pretty straight forward. Normally you just have to start vorpX and then the game. vorpX should automatically hook into known games then. For both games you tried, you will need a profile first since vorpX doesn’t have a default profile for either of these currently.

For Battlefield 1 you can import a custom profile in the vorpX config app (Cloud Profiles page).

For Skyrim SE please use this profile.

Just in case: if you didn’t do so already please also read the Essential Hints Guide in the vorpX help, which contains a few very important infos for beginners in regard to configuring games for vorpX.

Hi, thanks for the reply, most of this knowledge i already had gathered, the problem i found most frustrating was that i had to search and gather this information from other player threads, chats and YouTube, where had it been right up front pinned to the top of the forum, i could have easily found it and been playing for the last day or two instead of spending my time searching for it, also it’s other stuff like do i need SteamVR open as well, I literally just found out that i need the Origin overlay turned off if i want to play BF1, most of your Essential hints Guide only pertains to when your in the game, i couldn’t even get that far, I think you really need to add a FAQ for getting a game started, written up and posted, anyway i think i got how to do this now and i’m going to try again.

    cheers for listening.

There is a profile on the Cloud Profiles section by ‘omgzLAZERpewpew’ which has ‘0’ downloads but looks great.
I changed the depth to 2.0 and the fov w/ in game menus to ’90’ for the least amount of warp. (for me)

Just fyi in-case people were using one of the older profiles with little to no 3d.

    Hi
Far Cry 4 will not launch… I have deactivated antivirus. Clicked the “always launch upplay in OFFLINE mode”, the ingame overlay is deactivated as well. Game crashes without even loading when vorpx is active. Note: Battlefield1 is launching with Vorpx, so this seems to be a problem specific to Far Cry 4. Any other tweak that I might be missing for Far Cry 4?
Regarding Battlefield 1… is 3d stereoscopic available with HTC Vive? I would like to experiment depth in this game.
Thanks a lot for your support!

There is no profile for Battlefield 1 yet. vorpX requires game specific profiles to work, unless that is the case, a game may or may not work.

In general please familiarize yourself a bit with how vorpX works before you start.

The most important thing to do once for each game is addressing the field of view (FOV), which needs to be higher than on a monitor. How that is done varies from game to game. Sometimes you can do it in the game’s options directly, for other games the vorpX Game Optimizer may be able to do it or you may need an additional tool like Flawless Widescreen. In the worst case a non-perfect workaround may be required.

You can find a full list of options in this regard in the Essential Hints Guide in the vorpX help. This guide also explains two other things that are important to understand before starting with vorpX.

The help also contains a quick and dirty setup (“1-2-3 Game Setup”) that describes a way to get most games running within seconds, although usually not in the best possible way.

    step 1
    Open Vorpx

    Step 2
    click “cloud profiles” on left

    step 3
type in name of game “Battlefield 1” under the “Game/App” field (note: if you havn’t logged in with a user name you will have to make this now before it loads in online profiles)

    step 4
select the one by piebald3 (his name will be in brackets after name of game)

    step 5
    click “import profile” button

I have managed to get a really solid Battlefield 1 setup going so far, thought I would share it if people are looking at that game.

    step 1
    download online profile by “piebald3”

    step 2
adjust in game FOV to it’s max settings

    step 3
    tweak values of:
    GstRender.ScreenSafeAreaHeight as needed
    and
    GstRender.ScreenSafeAreaWidth as needed
    in “PROFSAVE_profile” found in C:\Users\(your user name)\Documents\Battlefield 1\settings
(note this setting is optional but if you lower the value below 1 this brings the hud elements into view like the minimap.. which is useful)

    step 4
adjust physical distance to face of lens on actual headset and adjust vorpx FOV and image zoom settings until comfortable

I’ve experienced a couple of games on Pimax 4K powered by VorpX. I’ve bought VorpX a couple of weeks ago but I’m already experienced in VR and 3D (anaglyph 3D, cross-eyed, parallel eyed, Tridef 3D, iZ3D, Nvidia 3D TV Play, Nvidia 3D Vision, helixmod, Vireio Perception). Configuring VorpX was pretty easy. No help needed.

Games played on Pimax 4K + VorpX + modifications like FOV, DSR, no GUI, latency optimizations:

    – Alien Isolation
    – Battlefield 3
    – Bioshock Infinite
    – GTA 5
    – Skyrim Original
    – Skyrim Special Edition (cloned Fallout 4 profile)

Depending on the game-/vorpX compatibility geometry 3D or z-adaptive.

    Disadvantge:
    – lil bit of ghosting while moving the head (sometimes not visible, depends on the scene)
    – 60hz instead of 90hz (not recommended for fast motion games)
    – IPD adjustment is softwarewise instead of hardwarewise
    – software crashes sometimes while initial IPD adjustment (reboot needed)

    Advantage:
    – Almost no screen door effect. In most cases absolutely no screen door effect. That’s WOW!!!
(There is a SDE comparision on YouTube between Gear VR 2.5K and Pimax 4K)
    – The image is absolutely fantastic (2.5K 1440p and 4K 2160p in-game resolution powered by Nvidia DSR supersampling – HDMI 1.4b 60hz). Provided you found the right IPD settings for your eyes and the device is not faulty. Wrong IPD settings = looks like cross eyed / blurry.
    – Even 2K 1080p looks great but I prefer at least 2.5K due to higher aliasing. Alien Isolation does not need high FPS so I played in 4K in-game resolution for superb graphics.
    – The image looks not as good on my FullHD 27 inch monitor but almost!
    – I’m able to read text easily.

hello, i was thinking about the new VR-Direct functionality for the next patch, this sounds really interesting, but I have some serious doubts about my head.

New functionality allows automatic adjustment of Fov among other things possible.
I’m not sure if this, can be used in all cases, or only a certain amount of controlled games,in any case makes life easier and that’s always good.

    The question is
What happens when you use a game setting less than 90 degrees?
For example,a typical Battlefield hardline campaign? although this game was able to reach up to 110-120 degrees in multiplayer, but campaign was not able.
Is this functionality is able to adjust or fix this somehow?

Will we continue to have the same current features available in the vorpx menu to help these cases with the current options?
For example (Zoom, 3d ,, Fov enhancement aspect modes, 2d enhancement e.t.c.)

Could be a good idea, keep both ways? Vr-direct and also the current system, if we find some cases where it can make things easier.
I’m not sure yet, as is this new functionality.

Regarding the control mapping,it will no longer be absolutely necessary for any game?
Be available natively for some extra controller xbox 360/One,as Steamcontroller for example?
It will continue ability to map a control to other devices such as Razer Hydra,Oculus touch?

    I’m in a sea of doubt :)

    Hi everyone!
I’m getting into this whole VorpX thing just right now, and i expected some issues with steam. :/
Maybe i am doing something wrong, but all other games just working fine.
I have an Oculus Rift DK2, and all of the games that i downloaded via Oculus Store are working perfectly. Also when i’m playing games from Origin (like battlefield 4, Hardline) are working very good with VorpX. And also (shamely) i have pirated games like Tomb Raider, also this works fine. But when i tried to play some games from Steam like Counter Strike, or Payday 2 didn’t want to be “connected” with VorpX, this means that the game just showed up on my monitor, and i could play it normaly, but not on my oculus rift. (For example balck ops 3 doesn’t even wanted to start…)
Do i have to start Steam VR or some other thing, or do i have to close something to get the things work? I want to make videos from it, how it works, and i am recording my videos with Nvidia’s “Shadow Play”, could this be a problem?
    Thanks for the answers.:)

    All right thanks,

Another thing about zoomed in issue which i have been trying to solve it for so long.

So far, Game menu is still extremely zoomed-in with full vr mode (Non-virtual cinema mode).

But During gameplay, it seems to work fine such as far cry 3, outlast and l4d2( not supported but able to tweak fov by console).

Other few multiplayer games such as battlefield 4 doesn’t seems to work when i set it in game setting optimizer. I don’t know about rift users, they seems to work judging from their youtube videos.

Really at the end of choices. Could use some help thanks. If all fails, i might consider reformatting. But again, that could be pointless, if nothing could change at all.

    Hi! thanks for the reply.

    1)
Not sure what you meant by “performing any action that writes settings datebase to disk in the config app before closing vorpX.” Are you saying i have to edit the ini file or something directly in the folder? Is it located in the settings folder?

“Just creating a copy of a random exisiting profile and deleting it again afterwards will suffice.”
Hmm, i never encounter this before. The profile are you referring to local or cloud profile?.

I glad the issue will be fixed in the next version. Hopefully, because i facing issue such as in-game vorpx and game setting optimizer not saving at all. Is there anyway i can edit the file directly to prevent it from overwriting it?

    2)
“A handful of games may overwrite those changes again if you change game options ingame afterwards, so ideally avoid adjusting video options in such cases after applying the Optimizer settings.”

For battlefield 4, even through i change FOV in-game. It doesn’t work at all. It still zoomed-in and unplayable. Back to the point 1 i just made, i couldn’t adjust the fov higher or lower in game settings optimizer due to the setting-reset issue.

“For games without the option to adjust the FOV with the Optimizer you either have to use the workarounds vorpX provides, edit ini files manually or use an external tool.”

Okay thanks, some games such as outlast won’t allow you to adjust fov. So i guess i have to tweak it by ini file. The only problem is the game setting optimizer, the fov doesn’t work, maybe it being overwritten or something.

    3) “Unsupported games: Try to create a new profile based on an existing one in the config app (Local Profiles page) for games that vorpX does not support.”

I notice games boot up with vorpX if they run in dx9. Games with dx10, dx11 will not work at all and instead will display on your monitor instead of the hmd. Need some htc vive users to confirm it?

    Thanks for the reply.

    Hi everyone,

I’m a htc vive user here and facing issues with vorpX.

    1) Settings not saved: I don’t know if this only happens to me or not. But i noticed my in-game vorpX menu is not saved at all. For example, i change to virtual camera mode and next time i boot up my game again. it revert back to non-virtual camera mode.
Not only this, i face issues in game setting optimizer as well. I can’t seem to change the fov as well (default:120) and will keep reverting back to default as well even through i click optimize settings and apply & close, no effect.

    2) Zoomed in issue: This is common to newbies, i fully aware i have to set the fov higher or something or i will face this issue. But however it doesn’t help at all. I set fov to 120 or maybe higher in game setting optimizer and nothing have changed, not only that it will keep reverting to default 120 as i mentioned in point 1. All games such as battlefield 4 and outlast are affected.

    3) Game compatibility issue: i don’t know if i the only one who face this. But i noticed games that ran higher than dx9 will not work and won’t boot up with vorpX. They will display on your monitor instead of your HMD. For example, i change dx11 to dx9 settings in far cry 3 and surprisingly it booted up with vorpx. But for games such as team fortress 2 it doesn’t even start at all.

Please help, i have spent around 2 days or so but couldn’t get around this problem. I a newbie and have much to learn. The only solution so far i thought of is to reinstall but i fear that my key might not work again that have sent to me via email.

These aren’t all FPS games, but are excellent picks:

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is AWESOME in VR if you’re into mystery adventures
Elite Dangerous if you like space exploration games
The Elder Scrolls Series – primarily Skyrim.
    Fallout 4
    The Batman Arkham Series
    Metro 2033
Call of Duty Black Ops 1-3, Battlefield 3-4 and even Hardline, Any Splinter Cell or Crysis game
    Alien Isolation
    Quake I-III
    Half Life 2
    Portal
The Witcher 1 and 2 if you like extended campaign games that will suck all your time, not sure if Witcher III is manageable at acceptable graphics levels
    Bioshock: Infinite
    Borderlands
    GTA IV and V
and to tickle your fear of heights check out Mirror’s Edge

Essentially if your computer can run it, and it’s built on a major game engine like Unreal, Unity, and quite a few others – it’ll play in VorpX. The less popular it is the more tweaking you’ll have to do though because it won’t have been done already by someone else. Once you get used to the Vorpx in game menu you’ll be able to get games to run. Whether you get a true stereoscopic experience depends on how the game was coded though.

I’m sure that’s clear as mud now.. lol. But hopefully there are a couple of games on there you can check out that are well established as compatible.

I feel like Ive seen this topic posted about once a week and never see any actual solutions or resolutions but I figure Ill give it a shot anyway

None of my steam games seem to be recognized by vorpx. Ive tried battlefield 4 and that being an origin game runs fine. The vorpx desktop works fine. Vorpx is running and has not reported any errors. Ive disabled every possible overlay I can think of and killed just about every running process I can besides steam, nvidia, and oculus. Ive disabled streaming and capture in the nvidia geforce experience. The only AV I have running is the one built in to windows 10

Ive tried just cause 3, a custom rocket league, CODBLOPS3, none of them get recognized by vorpx and launch in the headset. They only launch full screen on my desktop and I just continue to see the oculus home screen in my HMD
