    I have a Reverb G2 and I find VorpX is the best VR app I used. VorpX Beta is even better. Most game are good (UE4 engine based games are easy to configure). A lot of games are perfect or almost perfect (considering I prefer to play with keyboard/mouse).

    Recent games are not always the best because there is not always profiles, especially for DX12, and you need a really good machine to use AAA games in full VR (4-5k 3D VR raytracing without DLSS). A lot of non VR old games are stunning in VR, better than recent VR game. Full VR is perfect only if the original game allow you to set a 4:3 resolution and a wide FOV (110-120). Most games allow it by tweaking files.

    You can always launch a game without profile, or with Desktop Viewer (or virtual monitor if you want a higher resolution than your physical monitor). You won’t have 3D but for some games it doesn’t matter.

    I recently tried the Quest 3. I think it’s almost like an Iphone, you can’t use it like you want. Link to PC isn’t reliable. SteamVR is blurry, Steam Apps are unstable on high resolutions, and I didn’t manage to use VorpX yet. I’m disappointed by this headset, because of his software, and because of the cable. I think it’s not the best headset to play real good AAA games. It’s a toy. But I wanted something resistant to play during vacations so I’ll try to make it work.
    It’s an impressive toy anyway, but with stupid design.

    VorpX is easy to use and powerful, but it’s a generic tool, designed to adapt to any game. It doesn’t reprogram the base game like a mod would.

    If anyone is interested, I uploaded a new Beta vorpX Starfield profile based on Resident Evil Village. It is configured for Cinema mode and called ‘Starfield-Cinema Mode #2’. The Z3D is quite strong and can be turned way up.

    Only 4K resolution 3840×2160 works, lower resolutions have glitched textures. Custom resolutions above 2000p would probably work. First person gun view is also slightly glitched. No issue with third person view. Restart game if FPS drops. Hit ‘Delete’ key twice if gamepad stops working.

    Set these game settings for best Z3D:
    -Set Particle Quality to ‘LOW’.
    -Set Motion Blur to ‘OFF’.
    -Set Film Grain from 0-12.
    -Set Enable Depth of Field to ‘OFF’.
    DLSS only works without glitches on max quality or max performance.

    The new theater mode for SteamVR has released recently and I am impressed with how useful it is for flat screen gaming in VR. I see no visible performance issues for the most part. However, it is just too blurry for my Valve Index.

    After playing some flat screen games (that Vorpx cannot hook to) with the Vorpx desktop viewer, the visual clarity is amazing after messing around with the FSR and sharpening filters. The difference is night and day compared to SteamVR theater mode and Virtual Desktop Classic.

    But, the desktop viewer has major issues with performance. It has frequent stuttering and frame drops when the game is running buttery smooth on my monitor. SteamVR theater mode and Virtual Desktop also run buttery smooth. iirc Ralf in a post earlier said that the desktop viewer wasn’t designed with playing games in mind. I really think this should change. As VR headset screen resolutions improve, the appeal of using a VR headset to emulate a massive screen is becoming more enticing. I can even emulate a super-ultrawide curved monitor the size of my room and it’s just incredible.

    If the performance issues are solved with the desktop viewer, I think this would become the best flatscreen gaming via VR solution out there.

    Nvidia tools let you capture 360 videos(not sure) and photos(sure) of games that support their tech, like witcher 3 or mirrors edge for example, but its a handful of games that support it

    …Ah it seems its only screenshots https://blog.kuula.co/360-game-screenshots-howto

    but people have recorded 360 videos of gameplay so it is possible https://www.reddit.com/r/virtualreality/comments/lwrluj/how_to_record_make_videos_to_be_360vr/

    but its worth to mention: a) it will be very demanding to render game in 360 like ralf said, b) even more so in vr, c) most importantly it will look like shit if you try to watch it back in vr, you need something like 4-8k and 4k is bare minimum looking quite blurry, video file will be enormous, not many players would be able to play it back without stuttering horribly.

    Yeah, lowering ALL settings to Med netted me ~40fps game. People must run at complete blur vision potato settings to get 50fps or better.

    There is an eye rendering issue I’m seeing. Both in CP mod and VorpX beta.
    One eye gets stuck when using DirectVR, both eyes work ok in Z3D. If I change Headset Sync to Favor Latency the stuck eye will work but is horribly lagged behind the other eye that is running at the fast normal frame rate. Same performance and issue using OpenXR and SteamVR. This is on HP G2 btw.

    I spent the last few days tweaking Fallout 4 VR to get the best possible visual result in my Pimax 8KX. However, despite HD texture mods, and fRenderTargetSizeMultiplier = 1.5 and Adaptive sharpening mod, the image always remained a bit blurry and pixelated. After a few hours I tried flat Fallout 4 with vorpx. Resolution set to phneomenal and baaam. The clarity and sharpness compared to the VR version is stunning.
    If you prefer a clear image in front of motion controller, you should use vorpx.

    To play Assassin’s Creed Mirage with Vorpx, please follow these steps:

    1. Install the Vorpx Beta and the Vorpx (DX10,11,12) hook helper if prompted. Before installing the Vorpx hook helper, make sure to rename any existing “dxgi.dll” file in the Game Folder of Assassin’s Creed Mirage to “d3d12.dll.”

    Import my user profile Assassin’s Creed Mirage (VR-Punk) in the cloud section of the vorpx-config-tool to your local profiles section in vorpx.

    Make sure, that all “game”.exe files of Assassin’s Creed Mirage are associated with my profile in the local profile section.

    2. Resolution

    In most cases, your GPU driver will automatically suggest a suitable resolution for Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

    For the best gaming experience, I recommend the following resolution settings:

    Aspect Ratio: 16:10
    Resolution: 3456×2160

    Optionally, you can use Vorpx’s virtual monitor:

    1. Right-click on the Vorpx-config-tool icon in the tray and open configure
    2. Navigate to the ‘Virtual Monitor’ in the Vorpx Beta GUI.
    3. Create a custom resolution, such as 3456×2160 or 3840×2400.
    4. Minimize it to the tray again.
    5. Right-click on the Vorpx-config-tool icon in the tray.
    6. In the menu that appears, select the option to enable the virtual monitor manually.

    Now, open the Windows System settings and go to the display and resolution settings:

    You will see a list of two or more monitors. Look for the Vorpx virtual monitor; it should offer the 16:10 resolution you created, such as 3840×2400, select the Vorpx virtual monitor and change the resolution to your custom 16:10 setting.

    3. Game settings

    You can find your game settings in the following location:

    %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Assassin’s Creed Mirage\ACMirage.ini

    After making changes, ensure the file remains write-protected; this is necessary for proper functioning (!)

    In the INI file, you can adjust various settings, including language, graphics, input, and more to suit your preferences. Feel free to customize your game settings as needed

    Motion Blur, Depth of Field and Film Grain have to be deactivated. I recommend to use DLSS in combination with Adaptive Quality to 60 FPS.

    One of the most interesting settings is:

    FOVScale=2.13000

    This Super Third-Person FOV allows you to zoom very high in the Cinema Screen in your Headset while maintaining a reasonable distance from your player character

    My game settings are looking like this, but feel free to customize it for your needs, Assassin’s Creed Mirage allows many different settings and still works well in vorpx.

    Kodi can 3d Blu-ray convert to SBS on the fly, with a little compression of 10%, but it works great. Otherwise you can watch SBS mkv’s from dubious circles with the vorpx desktop viewer. There is 3D Player from a competitor of vorpx, i don’t know if the link will be deleted by Ralf. “github.com/LukeRoss00/mpc-vr/releases”. In my opinion the combination of all these tools give the best result for watching 3D-Blurays on VR Headsets.

    @roman, is your profile full vr or the sbs 3d? Apologies, a bit new to the software.

    My profile is full VR. It’s based on Alpha v2, but has different mappings – more buttons added, and has gestures working (aiming, throwing grenades etc.) I’m new to VorpX too, bought it specifically for Starfield, and I have no regrets (so far). I’m not even sure I uploaded it correctly to Cloud, so if you see gestures configured/working, it’s OK. Follow Alpha v2 installation instructions, they work.

    FOV for Reverb G2 (WMR) is 130. I use in-game resolution of 3056×3060, and have the same resolution added to VorpX virtual monitor resolutions.

    Here’s the StarfieldPrefs.ini settings that I’m using. With RTX4090 / 7950X3D I have 45fps walking in New Atlantis. It’s borderline, but mostly holding on 45, which is a must for WMR Motion Reprojection to do a good job.

    I also have OpenXR Toolkit layer that I have CAS sharpening on max I think. The game looks fantastic and very sharp. VorpX has sharpening too, which you can try using as well, but it’s easy to oversharpen. Maybe with DLSS replacement mod it’s a good idea to use it, especially if you don’t have OpenXR Toolking sharpening running.

    VERY IMPORTANT!!!
    I think I found a solution for a huge bug: when FOV is above 100 (and we need 130 for VorpX), weapons in your hand load as a crappy low-poly LOD versions and look awful – not all the time, but about half of the time, occasionally fixing itself and breaking after dialogs again. I found a mod made for widescreen FOV called “SFSE – Weapon Model FOV setter”. It uncouples hand+weapon FOV from main FOV and resets it after dialogs apparently. I tried loading a save and it worked, the weapons were fixed. Haven’t played with it, so not sure it fixes the bug, but people say it does. You have to keep weapon FOV at 100, if you go above, you get the low-poly bug. That’s what this mode does.

    The native Z3D mode in Vorpx is working well in this second profile; you don’t need any other external 3D driver !

    Please install the Vorpx Beta and the vorpx (DX10,11,12) hook helper if you will be asked for. (Rename any other existing dxgi.dll to d3d12.dll in the Game Folder of Starfield, before you install the vorpx hook helper)

    You will have a corrected User Interface and HUD, and all other improvements of the first profile after editing these settings of Starfield:

    1. Deactivate in the graphic settings of Starfield: Dynamic Resolution, Motion Blur, Depth of Field and Film Grain

    2. Resolution:

    To set a square resolution with an aspect ratio of 1:1 in the GUI of the Vorpx Beta using the vorpx-config-tool in the tray, follow these steps:

    1. Right-click on the Vorpx-config-tool icon in the tray and open configure
    2. Navigate to the ‘Virtual Monitor’ in the Vorpx Beta GUI.
    3. Create a custom resolution, such as 2404×2400 or 2164×2160.

Look for the Vorpx virtual monitor; it should offer the square resolution you created, such as 2404×2400, select the Vorpx virtual monitor and change the resolution to the square setting.

    In the Starfield in-game graphics settings, ensure the resolution is set ‘undefined’ (720p or any other value). Use a window with a white border and buttons for all other aspects. Vorpx will correctly display the output without the window border after connecting the game to your headset display. However, you may need to switch between displays in the Starfield in-game graphic settings to select the Vorpx virtual monitor.”

    Change or Add to the StarfieldPrefs.ini, locate the the config file at

    %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Starfield

    Make sure to use a windowed mode in Starfield, not fullscreen or borderless,
    in the StarfieldPrefs.ini file, modify or add the following settings:

    [Display]
    bBorderless=0
    bFullScreen=0
    iSizeH=2160
    iSizeW=2164

    After making changes, ensure the file remains write-protected; this is necessary for proper functioning (!)

    3. Field of View (FoV), HUD, and Interface

    Create a file named StarfieldCustom.ini in the same directory

    %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Starfield

    In the StarfieldCustom.ini file, add the following settings:

    [Display]
    fWideAspectLimit=1.0

    [Interface]
    fSafeZoneXWide=440

    [Camera]
    fFPWorldFOV=130
    fTPWorldFOV=90

    After making changes, keep the StarfieldCustom.ini file write-protected to ensure it functions correctly (!)

    4. Optional: Install the DLSS mod (Asi Loader)

    To enhance graphics using DLSS, you need to download the DLSS 2.5.1 version for Nvidia RTX cards. Ensure that you do not install DLSS 3.5, Framegeneration, or the Reshade version of the mod.

    You can find the mod and detailed installation instructions on the Nexus Mods website at the provided link:

    Starfield FSR2 Bridge – Replacing FSR2 with DLSS or XeSS (without Reshade !)

    https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/196

    Recommended Resolutions: When using DLSS2 or FSR2, it’s recommended to use resolutions ranging from 1620×1620 up to 2880×2880 for the best experience.

    Bugs: If you encounter issues with headtracking, you can try switching between different playstyles like Cinema, Immersive, or FullVR. Additionally, activating or deactivating Edgepeak might help restore working headtracking.

    I’ve noticed with the beta vorpX that changing between 3D modes (from G3D back to Z3D) in games can cause a wavey blur around depth object edges. Maybe this is the wobble effect you are describing.

    Not sure what change was made to cause this, but it can be avoided by not switching between 3D modes in the delete key menu. If you do by accident, or press related hotkey switch, you may need to restart your game to clear the effect.
