Using vorpX I was able to run a VR vision of Grand Prix 4 probably the best F1 simulation game.
The Grand Prix 4 community has build a lot of mods with more than hundred new tracks and cars, some software developers built some software extensions to allow better game behaviours and personalization, the most important Grand Prix 4 extension is GPxPatch that allow to runs many insteresting new tracks created by the community and other important features. (https://rsdi.home.xs4all.nl/gpxpatch.html)
GPxPatch is a real-time extension system for Grand Prix 4 and patches GP4.exe (Grand Prix 4 executable) at run-time to change several aspects within the game and to add functionality of its own, in order to make this task GPxPatch launch GP4.exe by itself.
At the moment I was not able to play Grand Prix 4 with GPxPatch support, but only using GP4.exe missing important GPxPatch features like new tracks support.
Can someone suggest me a way to allow vorpX to support GpxPatch realtime extension ?

Right, I went back to everything as in your description.

I have some head tracking, but the game image is moving, too. So although my view moves a bit, it doesn’t move as much as it should, it’s not 1:1, and the scene moves as well (but not as much as my head movement).

The 110° FOV is definitely too much. It looks far better at 90 for me. With 110, items close to me, such as cars, are stretched. This also makes the head movement look worse.

The vertical view is worse, though – it barely moves at all when I move my head up and down, and there is definite judder, with GUI overlays ghosting.

It’s definitely on Z_Adaptive, with Cinema off.

    Separation = 1.00
    Depth-weighting = 1.00
Depth of field = ON (off in game options)

    Crystal Image = off
    Aspect Ratio Correction = 1.1
Image zoom = 0.66 (I changed that, larger makes the zoomed-in effect worse)

Direct Mode Mirror Window = off
    DM Async Renderer = on
    DM Fluid Sync = off

    Head Tracking = on
    Sensitivity = 1.15
    Roll = on
    Inverts = off
    Crouch/jump = off

I now have edge peek – that was my fault as I have a special profile for the game on my mouse and had MMB set to Flashlights.

I bought vorpx today to play rfactor 1 in VR.I have an HTC vive. so far I’m unable to launch it in VR. i’ve been trying different settings all day long, but nothing works for me.

I’ve tried everything on these 3 topics

    rfactor 1 not starting

    RFactor 1 Set up Help

    rfactor 1 and VorpX 0.75

Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance :)

My config is 6700k, 16Gigs RAM, R9 390. Vive works perfectly with project cars, assetto corsa and adr1ft.

edit: I forgot to say: I got 2 differents error messages: the first one was “unable to hook rfactor.exe” and the second one was “plugin outdated” and then it says try to update the plugin. But I couldn’t find find how to update the plugin :(

I played native vr projects like “project cars:pagani” demo version. Useing ultra peset 1280*720 with 8xAA – prety good and smooth performace.
When i lauched “evolve” it`s awful. i changed all switchers to low, 640*480 resolution, even turned off 3d mode leaveing just virtual theatre with no inviroment. i still see freezy picture and sound glitches. when i turning head picture jumping even if headtracking off.
When i exit game and return to oculus home screen all start work normal: sound, picture, headtracking.
it`s loock like some software problems. M.b. vorpx works better in win 8 or win 10.
m.b. it coflict with smtg. i read that vr drivers dont like overlays (skype, shadowplay, steam).
m.b i had to install some win updates (i turned off autoupdate)
I saw many videos on youtubeand there were no broblems.
VR set conncetr as it meant – only usb 3.0 native mb ports

    Hi guys.

I´m a noob at VR and 2 weeks ago I got my first VR device, Oculus DK2.
So main reason to get VR is to play old games: farcry 3/4, Soma, Mirror´s Edge, Outlast and some newer titles.
With this post I want to encourage Ralph to continue your magnificent work with VorpX, I know it´s hard and people get frustrated very fast.

Many talk BS about VorpX but with time and effort when using Vorpx, you can get decent in game immersion, if you want to argue about that, use your flat TV and compare…
Of course there are bugs, but think really about that immersion, Ralph is making it all happend.
No railshooting, technology demos etc. BS, f*c* those job simulators.
Just pure games with some time real geometric 3d, let the bullets fly and blood will splash.
I love VorpX and I was suprised how well everything has worked.
I know it´s not easy to adjust games for some random casual player, but use time, use that 30 min for adjusting, read forums before you even start real gaming.
And there are many games what aren´t support but with 1-2-3 you get them work!
I think it´s not difficult to add native VR support to 3d shooters and drive games(Project Cars GOTY, wow) but big companies won´t do it, because there are too few VR users and many indie games are pure shiat.
We have to wait at least PSVR and maybe 2-3 years to CV2 and VIVE2 to get VR to the mainstream.
I´m just glad that the hardware has gone forward and sky will be the limit!
Christmas gift to my self will be CV1 :)
My All best to you Ralph and I hope Gabe Newell and some another bigshot will contact to you and give some help so you can take this to the next level.
I know there are lots of people who think like I do.
Btw, this is not a payed advertisement to Ralph, I´m only full of people who complain for not doing adjustments right!

I do not know what happened – but nothing works any more without being able to tell you if and what I changed. Genuine Oculus supported games still work fine (Assetto Corsa, Projects Cars etc). As soon as I start VorpX Control and try to start Vorpx Control supported games it does not work any more:
Fallout 4: Image on just one eye.
Battlefield 4: Image on just one eye – picture is headfirst. Engaging virtual cinema brings normal image.
CS: Global Offensive: Black screen. Alt-Tabbing out and then into the game shortly shows sandwatch in oculus lower right.
CS: HL2 Engine: See CS: Global Offensive.

Any suggestions on how to fix these problems?

    And finally…

And so, dear reader, we come to the end. Challenge Accepted, handled like a boss and all the other internet memes those young’ins on TeH YooToobZ say to sound all 1337 and stuff.

So is it worth committing the utterly insane and financially irresponsible act of buying a $1200 E-penis to play a near 5 year old video game?

HELL YES!! ..Well, if you’re into that sort of thing. I’m kinky like that. The fact that it blows through Fallout and Oblivion with wanton abandon and with Skyrim Remastered coming in October, it’s 100% worth it for me. We all have our outlandish hobbies. $500 APIECE golf clubs. Old cars. Hookers and blow…Your mileage may vary.

If you want to play VR games at the pinnacle, you really have only two options. Titans or 1080s. Singularly or in SLI. If you are content with ‘normal’ VR games, Anything in the AMD R9-390 range oR higher will make you completely happy. Those games make something like the Titan a ‘Want’ rather than a ‘Need’.

The Bethesda games are not a ‘Want’ as far as the Titan is concerned. They make it a ‘Need” because there is really no comparison between the two. As I have said all along, here and elsewhere, it’s a question of power. Yea it corrupts absolutely. but if you want to stand back and watch the sun set over Solitude with a fully fleshed out landscape that wouldn’t be out of place in a Frank Frazetta painting, you really do not have a choice.

Many of us old timers have been waiting to experience the dream of VR realized since the 80s and we aren’t getting any younger. In a couple years, the Titan X Pascal will be old news and at best, midrange performance by the standard of the day. It will command a couple hundred bucks on the used market and thats just the reality of bleeding edge tech and short shelf lives.

But today it exists. And it will power that VR dream to reality. Bottom line? If you can afford the ticket, it’s the ultimate ride. Your call.

Project Cars has native VR built in, Assetto Corsa is great, too and Dirt Rally VR will be out in the next couple of days. I do enjoy VorpX with a few games, but they all have at least one issue and I don’t want this in driving games.

I really don’t know how you could wish for more than those games.

Assetto Corsa and project Cars do not require VorpX as they have their own native VR support. Which you should use!

Project Cars: Simply start this from Steam and select the third option “Oculus rift other VR mode”, at the first prompt.

Assetto Corsa: Main menu>Options>Rendering mode = set to Oculus rift (early support)
and also look at this guide for the best results:

    Hello Ralf,

Sorry, I didn’t realise you were an employee of Vorpx, I only just noticed your title of Keymaster.

I’m sorry to hear your company isn’t interested in sponsoring an overview and tutorial series at this point in time.

I just received my OSVR today so I can’t gauge how popular my tutorial series will be. However I would like to point out that OSVR posted on the 17th of May that the OSVR is now working with Project Cars via the SteamVR/OSVR driver. That post on Facebook has had 18,289 likes in the last 8 days.
That means that of the 25,344 people that are following OSVR, 72% took notice of their post and were interested.

So being able to tell people that the OSVR can now play each game in your VorpX library right now (after testing, setup process and settings customization is done by myself and uploaded as a tutorial), even if not working natively, would still bring massive attention to your program.

My video on how to get Elite Dangerous working with Google Cardboard via Riftcat and the SteamVR driver has had 1262 views since the 18th of may, so there is definite interest in being able to stream games in VR from PC to phone as well. So you’d be bringing in two entire new markets to your product and at the same time, helping introduce people to stereoscopic 3D VR in older games that they love, which is the reason I’ve started creating tutorials.

I really hope you change your mind, if you do, please let me know as I’d love to get started on a series involving your program.

Does anyone have step by step instructions for some games? I tried searching the forum and only come up with some old stuff for DK2, and I have the CV1.
Alien Isolation, and Left 4 Dead 2, both give me super zoomed-in menus where I can’t see anything properly.
Then, once I got into A:I the motion was reversed. I move my head left, screen goes right. Then, the height is all weird.
I thought this $40 purchase was touted as the “plug and play” version of this kind of software…. what happened?
I would think that each game would already have a sticky, where people can go and just follow the steps. Or a wiki or something.
Anyway, please share some got simple, step-by-step instructions for Left 4 Dead 2, Alien Isolation, Witcher 3, Star Citizen, Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally, Project Cars, Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Dear Esther.

    Thank you!

    Hey Usvart!

Exact same problem here, as reported already https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/ok-so-how-does-it-work/

The stereo is there and the headtracking “works” with free(mouse)look activated… but it kind of warps for me, it’s not FPS ou mouse settings issue, i’ve tried many combos, nothing made any diference. Also, head central position keeps getting lost if i move it a bit faster.. all headtracking thingy is quite disapointing i’m sorry to say. And i have the same stereo problem: closeby objects are OK, but 10meters front i have doubled view (and i think left and right views are swaped). Thing is, the in-game menu does not have a full convergeance option. I mean, u can adjust separation, but it affects all virtual world and it shouldn’t. There must be the option to adjust both near AND far objects. I had that option many years back with the edimensional stereo glasses, so i know something about stereo 3D, and i have yet to make it work with vorpx :(

It works absolutly flawless (and in an awesome way) with native oculus support for pcars and elite:dangerous. It’s breathtaking experience! But unfortunately rFactor 1 or 2 isn’t working, and they’re the only reason i bought vorpx…

There has been an overload of changes from VR developers, a LOT is being tested/trashed and i feel VR ‘community’ is growing too fast for the available support, both from Oculus or Vorpx..

Wish you best of luck, but for now i quit.. i’ll get back to vorpx when it REALLY works out of the box.

    Hopefully a quick question:

I have been successfully doing stereoscopic gaming for many years now using AMD cards and TriDef (went AMD for several reasons, including not wanting to be locked-into NVidia’s proprietary stereoscopic hardware and a much sharper post-processing AA option). I run Frame Packing 720p or SBS 1080p on both a 720p DLP and a Sony Playstation 3D display. Games include DAO, Fallout 3/NV, AC, Project Cars, DAI, Skyrim Etc. Etc.

However, TriDef is now in some sort of financial trouble and new profiles and support for new games is lagging. Fallout 4, which I very much wish to play in stereoscopic mode only works in their “power 3D” mode which is a fake-3D (I understand Vorpx offers a similar feature), which I just can’t tolerate, but not their true 3D mode.

How does Vorpx play with non OR / Vibe configurations? If it is just a stereoscopic injector like Tri-Def, but with some added head-tracking and other features it will probably work just fine for all of us long-time stereoscopic gamers out there. If it specifically looks for OR / Vibe hardware then it’s not going to work at all.

Anyone here have experience with Vorpx and traditional stereoscopic gaming configurations? Does it work?

Thanks! (And yes, I did google, and I did email Vorpx support directly. No info I could find, and Vorpx support never got back to me…)
