Okay so I tried the ‘Other Mod’ and this is my fair conclusion: It runs smooth and has a fairly large start-up resolution. I uninstalled it quick.
The Vorpx version will remain my PERMANENT cyberpunk 2077 vr mod. After using the gesture controllers and the tweaking options you get with the mod, the xbox controller method is too restricting (to me). I tried it out to see what the fanfare was about. Don’t get me wrong, he did a good & commendable job. It just sacrifices a certain ‘fluidity’ if you know what I mean.
I ALWAYS inform people of Ralf’s version and they come out shocked mostly because there’s NO publicity for this groundbreaking achievement.
Is the Vorpx version perfect? No it’s not but it’s the closest we get to a full blown VR experience of Night city and all it contains. The mod is so cool that I LITERALLY have my arm ache because I physically have to wield my Katana :) and it’s FREE!!!
Kinda hurts that the VR sector would be this biased.
Kudos again to you guys at Vorpx and trust that your efforts will be PROPERLY acknowledged once it’s time.
PS. I’m not just some drooling fanboy, I’m currently building my own Open-World VR experience, so I kinda have an idea of how to appreciate a good VR mod.
Ok, this is a crazy feature request, but if you add it I might be valuable as a feature you can brag about.
So right now in the game you can’t really turn around, because the mod would need to constantly recenter you.
Would you be able to add DecaMove support? (Links to sdk and app below)
Even if you dont have an actual DecaMove device, you can use their free android app which works exactly the same. You would then be able to read the users “actual” facing position and map it to the mod. This would allow us to physically turn around without having to recenter. This would be totally amazing and should be quite trivial for you to do.
If the answer is no, is it possible that I could do this in my own cyberpunk mod via CET lua script? I imagine since CP2077 has no actually concept of character center it might not work. But I would just need a way to control the character facing position to the decamoves rotation .
My Initial Impressions:
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING in VR and one of my FAVOURITE Far Cry games!
* Full VR Mode
* Play with Mouse/Keyboard or a Gamepad.
* Geometry 3D 5/5
(If you recently played and enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077 in VR with the VorpX standalone mod, you’ll LOVE this, its just as good and plays the same!)
It disables the forced TAA in the game. Download and install the ini file version (the second link in the files section) this will also cause DLSS not to work, but the trade off may be worth it.
Disabling TAA totally improves the image quality. All of the hazy ghosting that happens around the edges of objects is gone. The trade of is a bit more aliasing/shimmering but I’d take some crisp jaggy edges over fuzzy ghosting.
You can mitigate some of the aliasing by raising the resolution.
I mean it works but its far from perfect. I have some general feedback id like to share.
Lets see umm where to start
1 Either Detach or make it an Option to Detach Look from Aim.
2 Make an Option for Left side or Right Side Dominate controllers (where all it does is swap the scheme to mirriored on the other hand.
3 It would be great to have a single controller be the motion control for Aim, currently its your head thats aiming and not your hand, this makes it not only confusing but weird and funky af!
4 Left side hand should be grenade throw, not the same hand your trying to fire with
5 make an option to force view back to center or
6 make an option to force directional movement based on current head track positoning (this would make it feel more fluid in game. Currently you have three axis of movement. Bi-Lateral, Head, and where ever the right stick is pointing. This causes a Huge Conflict and results in more confusion)
7 there was no option for pulling up Phone, Zoom Funtion and Hacking Tool(cyberware).
8 Unbind reload and force reload to a Right Handed Gesture/Motion to a Outward (Counter Clock) Wrist Flick. (This feels more natural and is Extremely intutive for anyone that has ever fired a real Mag Feed weapon (IE: Rifles and Handguns))
On to the App. Or lack there of. Since I have that freeware to just try it; it might be better with the full 40-50$ software but the App needs to have a simple easy to use 1click GUI to simply Remove the Mod and/or Reinstall the mod. So players may choose to easily go back to straight PC. Shouldn’t be that difficult all the files are in
steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64\plugins
Just move the vpxCP2077 folder and the vpxCP2077.asi to something like steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64\plugins\Backup for Vorpx or where ever the VorpX install is at.
Next give us the option to install VorpX Where we want to. Again this might be the case with the full install of VorpX and what you all are calling VorpX is just a PluginMod that should probably be Called VorpX CP77 Plugin or something
I decided to boot up cyberpunk (pancake) today to check out the 1.5 updates and realized I still had the vorpx standalone mod installed (It started in VR mode). So I quit and found the uninstall file, and removed it. Cyberpunk would not start now (nothing happens after pressing the “play” button). So next I tried to verify the files in steam, which said one file needed to be fixed and it seemed to have done so. So I tried again after a reboot. Same problem. Ok, this sucks but I went ahead and entirely removed the install, rebooted and reinstalled from scratch waiting for several hours. Went to start cyberpunk again and… same problem.
Short version: After removing the standalone vorpx mode and reinstalling from scratch, cyberpunk no longer starts. Hoping someone has experienced this and knows a solution.
OK, thanks. That’s valuable information. What I need now are a few things that might help me to reproduce the problem:
1. Your Cyberpunk config file:
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077\Usersettings.json
2. The vorpX log file directly after you encountered a crash
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\temp\vorpx.log
if you can’t see the AppData folder, enable “Show hidden files” in Windows Explorer.
3. A savegame with this issue (one is enough) and the user.gls file from:
C:\Users\[Username]\Saved Games\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077
4. The entire cyber_engine_tweaks folder (has to be the entire folder!) from
[CP2077]\bin\x64\plugins
Please pack these into a ZIP file and send it to support(at)vorpx(dot)com as an e-mail attachment. With some luck that will help me to reproduce the problem.
I’m one who’s used to having the right words for the right situations but I can’t seem to do that for this comment…Your VR mod for Cyberpunk 2077 has not only inspired my creativity but has changed my life for the best. I was very mad that your hard work was not being properly recognized but then again, greatness takes time to approach the light. Thank you Ralf for this. I appreciate your hardwork and consistency.
You’re my hero.
I could launch it a few days ago, but now it says “Whoa! Cyberpunk 2077 has flatlined” before it even launches. The cyberpunk launcher opens and I press the play button. The only thing that happens is that steamVR starts up and then I get the crash message and SteamVR stays up after cyberpunk crashes.
I just updated to the 1.5 patch, so I was wondering if anyone else was having this issue with the new patch?
I’m running it through steamvr with a pimax 8kx @ 60hz (75hz doesn’t work either)
RTX 3080 Laptop GPU, windows 11, 32 gigs ram
I reinstalled with the latest version of the standalone client. No mods and Intel CPU is disabled in the bios.
First, huge thanks for the new CP2077 stuff. I’ve been using Vorpx for a while in Immersive Screen mode and super excited about your new release.
On a 3080 with a Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core. Using Reverb G2 with OpenXR.
Installed it, ramped my game settings down to default Medium. When I start the game, during the loading screen, the FPS drops to 1 and the game stutters and crashes.
Things I tried:
Made sure I didn’t have SteamVR running
Dropped down to Z-Render
Dropped down to default Low
Switched from Full VR to Immersive Screen
No matter how low I drive this thing, it deeps stalling, dropping FPS to nothing, and crashing. Any ideas?
I wanted to say.. thank you!!! I really like Cyberpunk 2077, but this game really lacked VR, it was even strange to play a game about the future, new technologies, on a flat-screen when we already live in the VR era. With VR, it’s something mind-blowing, especially after adding gestures. An unusual futuristic cyberpunk world, city, technology, futuristic cars, and all this is not somewhere on the screen but in front of you! – I love VR for that. Thank you again :)
PS I have Vorpx and it’s cool, but can you do similar VR mods for other games? Dying Light 2, Metro Exodus, etc. I would even be willing to pay for each similar mod on the full-price of a new game (20-60$).
PPS sorry for my English, I’m from the CIS
