Blizzard would have to program it into the game tho.
Their own version with checks and balances inside the walls.

Because if you notice when playing a game like Fallout 4 on VorpX.
You can move your head around on the Vive and even peek through walls.
I assume the same goes with Oculus.
Essentially making the HMDs into a type of wall hack for multiplayer games like CSGO, TF2, and Overwatch.

    Someone want to verify this?
Into your own private match of course.
Don’t get banned on a real server.

    Edit:
Actually just read head tracking is only enabled in Fallout 4 at the moment.

    vorpX 16.2.0 has been released.

Heya – so is there any way to increase the amount of effect of various of the in-game menu items – specifically with separation, focal offset and UI depth ? I find that in skyrim (for example) if i get the separation and the focal offset right for me (which is often 0.3 and -0.1 respectively), then the UI is doubled when I focus in the distance (ie to infinity), and pushing the UI depth as far as it lets me (ie 1.0) partially corrects it by bringing the two UI images together, but in order to fully correct it it looks as though I would need to push the UI depth to 1.2 or possibly even 1.4 – so is there any way to make it go further (by editing files etc) ? Or is there anyway we could get the degree of effect of these various parameters increased significantly – like up to 2.0 for each one etc ? Thanks

Hello, I recently bought Vorpx and its a great software. I almost have Skyrim looking great. However it would be really nice to have Geometry 3D and some positional tracking in ESO like how it is in Skyrim. Its so amazing!!! I just bought ESO yesterday and plan on playing the entirety of it in VR on my Vive. I realize it used to have proper Geometry 3D and it would be amazing if we can have it again.

If anyone can give me tip on how to optimize ESO for VR. Everything is still a slight bit zoomed in for me even after changing the FOV in game as must as I can. and even Zooming out the image to the point where I see a little grey.

I am also trying to figure out how to get other users Vorpx profiles.Any help from anyone would be appreciated.

Since I installed Vorpx and played with the configurations my tranditional 3D games now get forced into 3D anaglyph mode when I just want to play them on a flat monitor. I also noticed that there is a yellow tint to them until I hit ctrl + alt + insert to disable the overlay.

I don’t even have Vorpx running when this happens.

Please help me get to playing my games in non VR mode back.

I have been doing some investigating:

The Oculus render resolution absolutely has a great affect on the image.

    Please see here:
    <unable to paste link; uncool>
Just google “Increase the render resolution of the Rift” – it’s the top link…

This is an extremely important tool because it dramatically changes the Rift’s resolution, sharpness, and antialiasing effects. It completely transforms the Rift IMHO.

I believe the render target resolution on the Rift when this tool is set to 1.0 is the native resolution of the display, i.e. 2160×1200.

Setting this to 1.4 (a render resolution of 1513×1680 I think) gives great image quality in games compared to default! (Some games use values lower than 1!).

With VorpX, We want to get this close to the game resolution, i.e. 1920×1440, so we want to set the debug resolution to 1.2, which brings the render target to 2592×1440.

I have tested this with various settings:

Setting of 0.4 = smooth (high game resolution) but blurry (low Render target).
Setting of 1.0 = smooth and sharp.
Setting of 1.2 = smooth and sharper
Setting of 2.0 = smooth and even sharper (Placebo?)

The interesting thing is that although in other games, this value heavily impacts performance, with VorpX, this setting doesn’t seem to impact performance probably due to the fact that the scene has already been rendered at the game resolution, and is only passed along to Oculus software for final warping. This means that this does not seem to impact performance! I would recommend 2.0 setting, if indeed it’s not a placebo above 1.2.

Ralph, a quick breakdown of the different stages of the rendering, with their respective resolutions would be immensely helpful in our understanding. Right now, I’m just taking stabs in the dark. This could potentially be a huge boon to VorpX Image quality.

For example, my understanding is that:

Image is rendered at Game Resolution then passed into –> Oculus Render Target Resolution which does the anti-lens distortion, which is then passed onto the display –> Rift Display 1080×1200. Am I correct?

    Thanks :)

Name one game that works with geometry 3d and looks great out of the box. Is there any?
I tried to get GTA 5 to work but my head would drift to where I was eventually looking up at the sky physically but looking forward in game. It seems like all games only half way work and thats even after tweaking and running all kinds of mods etc…

The 100% ideal resolution would be the per eye render resolution of the given headset (which is higher the the screen resolution due to the lens distortion).

For the current headsets the easiest way to get close to these resolutions is using 1600×1200 for Rift DK2 or 1920×1440 for Rift CV1/Vive. Given that your PC allows to set these resoution in a game this simplifies things as you don’t have to add custom resoutions to Windows.

Theoretically you can use any resolution. So if your machine can handle even higher resolutions for a game, you can also use this for super sampling.

Just be aware that recent games often won’t perform well enough with higher resolutions, especially in Geometry 3D mode.

There are three things that you need to take care of once for each game:

    1. Field Of View

You can get many games look almost perfect in this regard. And even for those that do not offer FOV control, neither directly, nor through vorpX, there are functions in vorpX to make them playable, although not always in a perfect way.

From best to worst here is what you can do:

    1. Set the game FOV directly in the game if it provides to dial in an FOV of 120°.
    2. Set the game FOV directly with the vorpX Game Settings Optimizer (vorpX config app) for games that support it.
    3. Set the game FOV to 120 manually through an ini tweak or external tool (avaliable for many games, google FOV + game name).
    4. Use the 3D FOV Enhancement in the vorpX ingame menu (availabe in Geometry 3D games).
    5. Play the game in Virtual Cinema Mode (can be enabled in the vorpX ingame menu).
    6. Use one of the letterbox aspect ratio modes in the vorpX ingame menu and/or ImageZoom.
    7. Use the 2D FOV-Enhancement in the vopX ingame menu (be aware that this distorts the image).

It’s NOT woking ! I’m trying now for hours and hours to change the FOV setting and it still not working at all, game is ultra zoomed.

” Set the game FOV directly in the game if it provides to dial in an FOV of 120°. ”

=> Impossible on fallout 4, metro 2033 redux, metro last light redux

Set the game FOV directly with the vorpX Game Settings Optimizer (vorpX config app) for games that support it.

    => the same ! ” optimize setting ” for FOV = 120, then ” setting applied ” then ” apply ” then…. NO CHANGE in game !

All my games are original, on steam, and not modified. I paid 35 euros for something that is not working, you have no video of tutorial on your website… great !!

@Ralph during patiently waiting for your support i found some odd behaviour of your voprx.
WIn 10 latest update as of 28.05.2016
    Rift cv1
Oculus app latest release as of 20.05.2016
    GTX 980ti SLI disabled

1.i have my games installed in a folder other than drive c:( installed in E:)
2.i need to have voprx installed in c:\programs86\animation

3.i cant start vorpx with administrator rights , even i make it available in program settings, if logged in as user1 and not as administrator.
so i have to login as administrator in order to get a game running.
(GTA5 doesnt work atall its says: GT5-exe not found)
If i login as user1 and start the games from the drive they are installed vorpx monitor does not show up, and vorpx sends the message: vorpx cant initialize your oculus rift. Reported error:( just blank)

I’ve tried to get Diablo 3, a game it says it works with, to work but nothing working. Tried with and without Steam VR running. Nothing picks up. Downloading Warhammer Vermintide again to give that a shot tomorrow.

I have no anti-virus or anything else running (currently). I even disabled my Logitech software so literally nothing but Steam was running. Not working. It could be a background process, but there’s 65 of those going (mostly Vive/Steam stuff) which meaning that would be a total crap shoot.

OK, made a little bit of progress. Super confusing, not 100% sure on what I’m doing, however, am getting closer in baby steps on this.

So I downloaded my copy of Thief II, The Metal Age. I’ve managed to get the menu screen going in my headset. However, the mouse and keyboard (HTC Vive controllers didn’t work at all) were not working in the game. The left click seemed to do nothing at all, while right clicking seemed to only work on my left monitor. The screen in my headset was beautiful and clear as it is on my monitor, but gargantuan and off to the left. None of the hotkeys to change those settings worked either.

But how I got to this little bit of progression was, starting VorpX, then running SteamVR, then running the game. After importing Thief 2, The Metal Age from the configure settings. Where I was going wrong when I read Ralf’s instructions on my other post was I was leaving the configure screen up and then running the VorpX picture viewer running. I thought that was what made VorpX work. Running the picture viewer.

So still haven’t gotten any game to run, but it’s a step in the right direction, hopefully some of this helps.

I’m with you. While I’ve gotten VorpX to start, and I can get the Desktop viewer to launch, I can’t get it to launch/attach for any game. All I get is the SteamVR home area (“This is REAL” with my Roomspace Grid) and that’s it. I’ve even disabled my second monitor while trying to run it in case that was causing issues as there’s no support for dual monitors.

Tried using it with Diablo 3 and if VorpX is running at all then Diablo 3 locks up when I hit “Play” in the battle.net launcher. Also as a shot in the dark I tried running it with other games like ARK and no go there. Pretty lost and confused as hitting “Start VorpX” as the instructions doesn’t seem to do anything.

Okay, no problem. It’s a fairly small thing to have to deal with until the next update or two. Thanks for the quick response! Now that I’ve got this stuff functioning I am just super happy. Vorpx is rad! I don’t get VR sickness so it bums me out that developers are avoiding porting classic games to VR because of how common sickness is. This is an awesome workaround. Heck even playing games in the theater mode with 3D enabled is super cool.

Not sure this is a vorpx issue but thought someone might know. For some reason I cannot get fallout 4 to use a different fov from default when in 1st person. I have set all the right config settings (in both inis, not read only etc etc) and 3rd person works fine, but first person just wont work even if I do fov 120 in console. while in 1st person the fov will change, but as soon as I close the console it reverts back to default. It is a fresh install, no mods etc. Haven’t been able to find anything on google about this problem.

    Hello Ralf,

Sorry, I didn’t realise you were an employee of Vorpx, I only just noticed your title of Keymaster.

I’m sorry to hear your company isn’t interested in sponsoring an overview and tutorial series at this point in time.

I just received my OSVR today so I can’t gauge how popular my tutorial series will be. However I would like to point out that OSVR posted on the 17th of May that the OSVR is now working with Project Cars via the SteamVR/OSVR driver. That post on Facebook has had 18,289 likes in the last 8 days.
That means that of the 25,344 people that are following OSVR, 72% took notice of their post and were interested.

So being able to tell people that the OSVR can now play each game in your VorpX library right now (after testing, setup process and settings customization is done by myself and uploaded as a tutorial), even if not working natively, would still bring massive attention to your program.

My video on how to get Elite Dangerous working with Google Cardboard via Riftcat and the SteamVR driver has had 1262 views since the 18th of may, so there is definite interest in being able to stream games in VR from PC to phone as well. So you’d be bringing in two entire new markets to your product and at the same time, helping introduce people to stereoscopic 3D VR in older games that they love, which is the reason I’ve started creating tutorials.

I really hope you change your mind, if you do, please let me know as I’d love to get started on a series involving your program.

No big. Anyway, the problem is solved. It appears what was going down is that the config will not start before the product is registered, and when the desktop app failed to start, I couldn’t register, hence, no config. I’m all registered now.

Haven’t had a ton of luck with games so far but that could be down to my setup. My Vive goes grey constantly due to performance issues, and this happens in official SteamVR software as well. With new graphics cards and intel chips rolling out in the next month, it seems I will be building a new computer to use this thing. I got Vorpx a bit prematurely knowing I would probably run into the same problems with it that I did with games in Steam VR. I got Proteus started in Vorpx (had to create a desktop shortcut), but the display kept going grey. I went with Proteus even though it’s not officially supported because its graphics are not demanding. Alas, it seems they are still a bit *too* demanding for my barely-functional VR setup. I can run Tilt Brush in this thing and that’s about it.

    For those curious,
    i7-4770K @ 3.5 ghz
    Radeon R9 290
8 gigs DDR3 (soon to be 16, this was the easy part to improve upon…)

I think I’m running into problems with my motherboard, CPU, and GPU alike. The system as a whole just can’t roll with the VR experience yet. However it does look like when I get the rest of it working, Vorpx will be functional as well. Thanks for the help! See you all in a bit when I get my shit ironed out :P
