    I actually regret ever trying to play games in this mode, coz now, VR this or Vr that, playing games the regular way on my 31inch monitor is like missing so much that actually playing games there is even less than just half of the fun compared to when playing in immersive modes, or in other words….i don´t play games without my vr goggles anymore, even if it´s some “stupid” 16bit pixelshooter coz those games are as well much more fun in immersive mode.

    Needless to say i was almost about to abandon VR because the exclusive VR games just really didn´t do it for me, i am still more for a relaxed way of gaming and not really having fun with jumping around while swinging arms in a almost hysterical way while trying to hit and dodge enemies.

    I also must say games like SENUA´S SACRIFICE, a 3rd person game getting its VR version years later, was one of the few “vr titles” really being much more fun than all of those “exclusive” VR titles who try to much to give that huge “immersive feeling”.

    So finally, i can say vorpX kinda saved VR for me, coz now i am also getting more into the mood of not only playing games in immersive mode but in real VR as well.

    …just hope you guys from vorpX stay on this for the rest of my vr-gaming life, lol.

    Have you tried a different desktop resolution? I couldn’t get it to work with 4k, but with 1080p and 1440p it works fine. Remember, the first time it will crash, but if you keep trying it will eventually hook.

    UPDATE: I’ve found a solution to the issue.

    It seems that, when you start the game, you must start on a 3D scene in order for vorpX to activate G3D properly. The very first scene of Black Flag is simply a screen that reads “Ubisoft Presents”, and I’m guessing that this little bit doesn’t have any 3D information for vorpX. If you continue playing from this point, the game remains flat forever.

    If, however, you finish the first sequence, quit, and reload the game, everything works fine. Presumably, loading into a scene with 3D information gives what vorpX needs to “kick in”, and G3D works fine after this. You can even restart the game at this point and G3D remains active.

    As a side note, this also appears to explain why Freedom Cry works. The DLC starts in a 3D scene, so there are no problems.

    My explanation here is likely not quite right, but this does seem to be a good solution to this issue. I hope it helps someone else.

    @Ralf : I’d love to get your take on this. Is this perhaps a bug that could be fixed? Or is there some other reason you can think of that would be causing this issue? Thanks!

    Geometry 3D adds a second camera (one for each eye) to give stereo vision. This is why it looks most real and cost double performance.

    It sounds obvious, but…

    I was using Nvidia 3d Vision before it was dumped by vendor. It was in fact doing real Geometry 3d, not Z3D for sure. And the performance was dropping only by like 10-15%. Rendering a second cam should not cost double performace, as most of the rendering of the scene can be shared between both cams, and only at final rendering stage it needs to be separated.

    Also games that are made specially for VR, are actually real 3d and they run on my same machine on max graphics and high resolutions at maximum frame rates. Even though, they also need to render two eyes.

    I was expecting performance drop with vorpx when using G3D, but not that much. In example Farming Simulator 19 on same machine, was running for me with Nvidia 3d Vision at 60fps at maxed out graphics stable. While with vorpx G3D it breaks down to something like 10fps. Even with lowest graphics settings and lowest resultion its not going higher then 30 but of course looks like mess. With Z3D runs smoothly at 60 fps with max settings and high res. G3D kills the performance for FS19 completely it’s not just halving the performance, it kills it completelly. So actually even though G3D is available for FS19 it is in fact unusable.

    I assume therefore that the method how vorpx realises G3D certainly has some issues with the performance, and it cannot be justified by just saying, well it has to render everything twice. No it doesn’t. If it does it, then its not an optimal solution.

    I am suspecting, that G3D breaks the performance in vorpx because it actually renders everything 3 times from scratch and is not sharing ressources. Don’t forget the monitor. I have a reason to believe that monitor is rendered compeletely separately. 1. It runs a different resolution. 2. When changing camera hight in vorpx G3D settings, it does not affect the monitor, you see it only in VR.

    Hi, I’m using BeardoBenjo’s profile for Amnesia: Rebirth (which is ostensibly built using a profile made for Soma) for my Oculus Quest 2. It seems like it works pretty well for the most part. The only issue I’m having is with the G3D. It seems pretty close to working, but when I turn my character, particularly near sort of complex 3d objects (I was testing a lot with the campfire with the pot in the first cave), the 3d looks kind of weird and it feels like I’m instinctively crossing my eyes to try to see it correctly? I’m not sure exactly how to describe what’s going on visually; part of my hypothesis is that maybe one eye is being rendered ever so slightly behind the other, but its really hard for me to tell.

    I’ve been jabbing at all the settings I can find, but none seem to really do anything to fix this issue. I’m aware that this isn’t an official profile and that searching for details about Soma and Rebirth profiles have both made it sound like it’s just kind of destined to be weird due to it being an OpenGL engine, or something. I’m just sorta frustrated because I just came off of playing the FEAR series, which blew my mind with how well Vorpx was able to work with those games, and Rebirth seems really close but not quite there. I figured I’d post here to see if anyone can think of some good tweaks, or if I’m having a better time than most and just need to get over one little hump I’m not sure about.

    PS I’m still fairly new to Vorpx and want to make it clear I am in no way crapping on the devs or this software. I can’t even imagine what it takes to make something like this.

    Is anyone able to get this working anymore? I played it about a year ago and it was fantastic, but now I’m trying to run it and it won’t go into 3D at all. It won’t even give me the option for ‘Geometry – 3D’, only off, and the two z-buffer modes, which do not work either, even though they are selectable… (not that I’d want to use z-buffer 3D… it’s terrible.)

    Can anyone else get it working, or did the most recent patch to the game break VR somehow? I really wanna play it again. :(

    Hey all. There were only a few threads here and on the googles for Antichamber and getting it to work with good FOV. Below are the few steps you need to do.

    Firstly, make sure you run the game at least once as it installs stuff the first time you run it.

    Even though Antichamber is officially supported, it uses the “Unreal Engine 3” profile – so if you already use another game with vorpx that uses this profile, I would suggest first copying that profile and make a new one. The folder with the UDK.EXE file to use is located in:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Antichamber\Binaries\Win32\UDK.exe

    NOTE: If you don’t have any games using that profile, you can’t actually create a custom profile because antichamber binds to it when you first launch it with vorpx open.

    Next, to get Antichamber working with a proper FOV, you need to enable the console by editing ini file in notepad, and changed the fov to around 125 in game.

    DefaultInput.ini:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Antichamber\UDKGame\Config

    Find the following lines in DefaultInput.ini:
    ConsoleKey=None
    TypeKey=None
    Put a semicolon in front of each of these lines so that they now look like:
    ;ConsoleKey=None
    ;TypeKey=None
    Save the file

    I would next suggest setting your resolution here, as for some reason because it’s running in 4:3 for the VR headset, it doesn’t show all the possible resolutions.

    In the same folder as the DefaultInput.ini, there’s a file called DefaultEngine.ini.

    At the bottom you will see [SystemSettings]
    Change the ResX and ResY to what you want as the resolution – I have a Valve Index headset, and I set it to my recommended resolution of 130%, or:

    ResX=2296
    ResY=2552

    I did notice a slight difference if I set it lower, so I keep it at that.

    Open the game, and press the ~ (tilde) key, then type:

    fov 125

    You may need to play around with a number, but for me 125 is great.

    I don’t know why, but the normal “SaveConfig” UDK3 command does not work..so you will have to type “fov 125” in console each time you open the game.

    Not a huge deal to be able to play the game in VR imho!

    I hope this helps anyone out with this awesome game!

    FYI, tweaking the FOV for Little Nightmares 2 adds that umph we are craving for and shows the 3D. Playing it in VR (thanks to vorpX) is an amazing experience, I was actually emotional at some point after an intense chase and then, calmness due to an extreme event. The total immersion is to fault…
    Here is the video I’ve made showing how to use the FOV tweak together with vorpX

    I would also love to get this working. The only way I can get it to even begin to run is by loading up the desktop viewer and playing it inside of there.

    Getting a regular issue when trying to use VorpX through Virtual Desktop on my Oculus Quest 2 which is that I get an error stating that “No Oculus headset can be found” despite being linked and working through SteamVR.

    The game will load with no issues, but I find that I’m unable to use VorpX in FullVR mode despite the logo and settings appearing and I find that I’m also unable to use my gamepad, touch controls, or even my keyboard to try and fix settings.

    Is this an issue that I’m going to constantly run into or is this simply a matter of setting up VorpX wrong? Is their compatibility between the two?

    The same happens for Devil May Cry 5 which uses the RE7 engine. I have a 1080ti and get the same performance as another forum member that has a 3080.
    In general with G3D you should expect 35-45% the FPS of “2D” rendering, but with this engine it’s more like 15-20% sometimes.
    I ended up using Z3D because G3D wasn’t fluid enough even with FluidSync/reprojection.

    Hi Team,

    I’m finding that I am getting rubbish performance in ARMA 3 using Vorpx and I’m hoping someone can help me please.

    I have an MSI laptop with am i7 7700 2.8GHz, 16GB RAM and a Gtx 1060 graphics card. I can run ARMA 3 on full graphics and get 30-40 fps no problems when using standard, however when I am using Vorpx and my Oculus Rift S (even with graphics settings put down to the lowest) I am down to 4-7 fps and the game is un-playable.

    Are my systems specs too low or can I adjust settings to get better performance?

    Thanks,

    Jas

    Hm, very strange – I changed bindings, even restarted vorpx to make sure and checked it stayed, but launching the player file gets sent to recycle bin without even promt window and while player stays open vorpx doesnt hook.

    I dont know why that happens and binding doesnt affect it apparently.

    I am using special standalone build because it works with SVP (https://www.svp-team.com/) which I highly recommend, but I know for a fact vorpx used to work flawlesly with it before.

    VLC works but then I have to choose to ether have ambient background or high frame interpolated videos.

    P.S.: If you are fixing whatever thing is messing with MPC-HC next update I am going to take an opportunity to remind you to change storage location for custom 3d backgrounds that currently are in my documents and have access issues on automatic mode (was discussed in another post).

    Yes Windows thinks it’s a virus (this is also mentioned on the forum of the mod) and even though I kept clicking on the ‘it’s a safe file’ option and had to get it out of quarantine, windows constantly kept alerting me it was a virus. Somehow that now stopped, I don’t get the alerts anymore.

    But RDD2 run perfect on my Quest 1 linked to my pc with all graphics set quite high, with my G2 reverb it’s now a stuttering mess, even with all the graphics set to their utter lowest. Any other G2 users here who have Rdd2 running ok?
