Also, and PLEASE!! not to detract from this discussion, as the Vorpx solution is ultimately the best and we need this, I have this running OK with ReShade*.

*Install with ReShade.exe installer from product website (free); run Virtual Desktop; use ‘Half SBS’ (under ‘3D Options’); then run the game (!!be sure to turn off ‘Enable the steam overlay while in-game, and ‘Use desktop game theatre while SteamVR is active’ by right clicking on game in steam left panel prior to running). It looks great – while there is ‘no profile’ it looks pretty 3d to me in that screen. Problem I’m running into is CRAZY CHOPPINESS in some parts of the game – my system spikes for a long period of time and sometimes gives a video card driver version error message. I’m thinking its video card driver and dx12 compatibility issue. Had same issue with Cyber Punk 2077 and Vorpx when it first launched, but when a native profile came out, all was fixed by just running Vorpx, as Vorpx changed the settings appropriately. Hence, the note above saying Vorpx with native support will be best option!!!!

I share this because I have the same concern as your initial comment – i only want to game in 3d as well. I have settled for a screen in VR headset for some titles. The smoothness is nice, but no 3d. This ReShade is a good option. IT WORKED BEAUTIFULLY (as of yesterday) WITH THE CALLISTO PROTOCOL!

Just sharing this other option for when Vorpx doesnt work at the time.

ME1 LE has an official profile since release, which made most sense because of the gameplay changes/modernization it came with. Just works without having to jump through any hoops at all. ME2 LE also is covered, just works too. Dan’t recall currently why ME3 isn’t, or whether there was an actual reason in the first place. I’ll check it again before the final 23.1.0 release.

On a sidenote: ME2 and M3 LE are pretty much the exact same games as before with a texture mod and worse performance. Mainly because of that I’d consider the original ME2 and ME3 versions the better choice for VR.

    Hey Ghost75757,

kept you waiting huh ? :)

I didnt play any VR last year, my headstrap of my VIVE is not good anymore and i bought an new Pico 4 this year, but sadly it had defective Lenses (its an Quality Product Issue) with Lens Disortions and i had to return it after the first day. I now want to wait until i get my 2nd one.

When i get my 2nd Pico 4 with hopefully perfect lenses, then i cant wait to play this Game in cinematic Mode VR ;)

Thanks for your Guide with this Camera Tool, i cant wait to try it ;)

To answer your Question: The Trick was, to Pause the watcher, when you wanted to play via the Desktop Viewer, because if you didnt pause the watcher, the games automatically hooked then in Vorpx and interfered ;)

By the way, did you already play MGS2 and MGS3 via PCSX2 Emulator with the 3D Plugin ?
    Its great.
Also there is now an 3rd Person Mod for Metal Gear Solid 2 PC Version, if this Game also had an Vorpx Profile ;)

Also, you you can play Twin Snakes via Dolphin VR or via “Normal Dolphin with SBS Mode for Cinematic VR experience.
And there is an great Boneworks Metal Gear Solid Mod. Just for your Interest ;)

I don’t need motion controls or anything, I just want to put on the headset and have full 360 look around with my head (like gyro) while just sitting down at my comptuer with keyboard and mouse.

Does vorpX support java minecraft, anyone have set that up? Need java cause I play modded.

Basically the key decision as to whether or not I should purchase this app.

    I got this,..

The VorpX’s tips for the game says to go into the VorpX menu and enable TrackIR, so I did. When I did that, the view started spinning and zooming/moving and going crazy. I exited the game.

So this was the first time you changed settings(?).

Upon restarting the game, the view was stable again.

Stable “again”? Have you reset the changes you made before, like disabling TrackIR because you didn´t mention it to this point.

When I turned TrackIR on in VorpX settings,

You turned TrackIR back on? So you were disabling TrackIR before or what?

the view this time stayed stable instead of going crazy which doesn’t make sense to me – how can it act completely different one time compared to the next when I didn’t change any settings?

Well i´d say you actually did change the settings and not only just for once.

Are you even sure you weren´t fucking up at some point during those multiple times of restarting, changing settings, enabling certain settings and disabling settings once again?

    Greetings 3D fans,

I am thinking about buying VorpX for Doom2016 and Dishonored 2!
I´m slooooooowly running out of VR games because there is not much in true AAA quality after Half-Life Alyx and Moss, only indie-stuff and 2 hour games, that´s why I want regular AAA games in VR.
Just like Alien Isolation with that Mother-Mod, wow one of the BEST games for VR out there!

But VR has one significant flaw, everything is way too small and not life-like sized, and that´s why all games need to have the SteamVR world slider set to 120% to have the world around me in authentic life-like size.
Otherwise VR would look like a completely off and strange dwarfen world with ridiculous 140cm dwarfs as NPC´s standing around, chairs and tables look like made for elementary school children, and in general everything is only half the size it should be in VR when playing without the SteamVR world slider (which is the most legendary and important option ever implemented in any program!)

The world scaling option in SteamVR solves this problem diving into some ridiculous dwarven world whenever putting on the headset, for good!

Everything looks great now thanks to SteamVR world scaling. Even the cockpits in Flight Simulator 2020 needs slight scaling correction, the Fenix Airbus has a perfect life-like size in 110%, and the DCS jetfighters look great at 115-122% world size scaling.
Alien Isolation needs SteamVR world scale adjustment of 125% otherwise small children´s hands are holding the flamethrower.
You see how important size scaling is for VR? It is the main difference between being fully immersed, or being in a strange dwarven world where nothing has the right size and scale.

So to get to the point, it is not possible for me to enjoy VR without world scaling option because only having the correct size of objects gives immersion.

X-Plane for example has no world scale slider in VR, that´s why the cockpit chairs have the size for elementary school children, ridiculous and absolute impossible to immerse myself in such a cockpit.

You see, not graphics but seeing objects in the the right proper world-like size makes a game a masterpiece or a no-go in VR. :)

    My question is:
Has VorpX a world size slider option for games like Doom2016, Dishonored 2, (and I would also love to play Outlast and Soma if possible)?
Without world scaling the immersion and sense of size and height is so off that a VR gane is not enjoyable.
I need to know if I can adjust the size of the 3D world when using VorpX for a game before buying it :)

Wow the new release is awesome! the gesture function, makes it really good.
I would like an explanation of the various parameters if it were possible, because what is written in the menu as information is not very clear.
I find the dx12 hookup improved, even if some games I have to start them with openxr rather than with steamvr, while others the opposite.

with titanfall 2 i had to remove the hide weapon function to have a nice effect with the rifle gesture,
in Forza Horizon 5 instead, the steering wheel gesture works well, I need to figure out how to best adjust the sensitivity of the steering. the problem is that the sensitivity of gestures creates some problems. Let me explain, it doesn’t take much to lose the “signal” of the steering wheel gesture. a suggestion could be the possibility to activate the gesture with a key, for example the left grip. so that beyond the position of the hands, the gesture of the steering wheel starts. I hope I was clear .

I worry about vorpx, Ralf didn’t tell us a plausible reason why we have still vorpx 21.3.2, and i guess Ralf has received a legal warning and Ralf is not allowed to update vorpx.

The same in Helixvision, it hasn’t got an update since June 2021, and they didnt’t want to tell me why ! Paul Dusler was the developer of the 3dfixmanager and this was the back end of Helixvision, and guess that he left the team last year.

And RealVR has a received a legal warning and has to delete all 2K game mods, too. He released the Cyberpunk, Eldenring, Dark Souls, Final Fantasy 7 and Ghost Wire Tokyo Mods in 2022, and that’s it. I think that he wants 130€ per year for this small list of games is ripping off the VR Fans.

I hope that the new Geo3D, Geo11, Depth3D will shake up the scene and we will survive this crisis !

Honestly if it comes to VR-exclusive titles, i´ve almost sold my vr-gear already years ago, leaving vr and not even looking back to it.

Just before selling my gear, i was actually trying to play games on a virtual theater screen and THAT was what got me hooked to VR after all, so basically i am playing all my games on vr-theater screens now. The only problem was, free software such as Bigscreen-Beta caused much troubles (stuttering, crashes etc.) so it was vorpX what saved me again, coz there haven´t been those issues.

So believe it or not, i am actually using my vr-goggles with almost every gaming-session today, on a daily basis of course.

Now if i can´t continue playing regular games with vorpX or even other similiar products, while being forced to play those few and actually great vr-exclusives, then VR is good as dead to me coz i will not keep my gear for those few vr-exclusives being released every couple of years.

Sad and tragic, such a thing would be.

This may sound overboard, but its not like its a harmful medication, try playing a few times a week with some Dopamine, same medication you take when you get on a boat, because your inner ear doesnt work well with a bobbing around.

I started playing with a DK2 and had very mild motion sickness at first, used dopamine for a few sessions and dont get VR sickness whatsoever at this point.

Hell, played Doom Eternal in 3d (no 6dof) and didnt have a problem playing whatsoever. Your mind can get used to it, but, some people will criticize it for being too much to just play a video game; but try dopamine for a few weeks and just play a little bit through the weeks to get your body and mind on the same page when it comes to VR.

Worked for me, might work for you. Good luck getting over it whatever you decide to do, I would be super frustrated if I got motion sick from playing.

It’s too bad no one can get Valve interested in building a motion smoothing mode specific to alternate-eye rendering. I personally can’t deal with the 3D error in actual gameplay (look out the side of a moving car and the road appears to be closer than the interior of the car), but it seems like this could be handled with the existing motion extrapolation system.

Frame 2 render L2, extrapolate R2 from R1. Frame 3 render R3, extrapolate L3 from L2, and so on. 3D would be correct, and no jitter. The only issue would be that those motion smoothing “wobble” artifacts would alternate showing up in the L/R eye every frame, which I suppose could be… not great. Potentially stroboscopic. Still seems like it might be better than the stereo error and jitter though?

Anyway, just theorizing. Excellent work on support for this game as it is already. The gesture system is surprisingly effective, and this is the perfect place to show it off because it doesn’t have “gun face” (gun and arms glued to the camera) and instead uses a proper 1st person body. When you aim with the ADS gesture it somewhat becomes “gun face,” but it doesn’t feel nearly so wrong because you’re doing the aim down sights gesture IRL, so you really should have the sights lined up with your eye.

Hi there! A VR user in genesis here :)

Although I still don’t own a VR headset, I purchased vorpX more than a year ago because I liked the project so much, and I just had to grab it.
I do plan to use it frequently when I finally buy the headset.

I need your help in deciding one thing:
Pico 4 grabbed my attention, and I am still deciding whether should I pull the trigger on it, or go for Quest 2.
I am aware of the pancake lenses, higher resolution, better comfort, and all other benefits, but really, the deciding factor is the following:

Can it run vorpX or not? If not, that is a deal breaker for me.

Any help on the subject would be helpful.
    Thanks!

Ran into difficulties trying to play with my controller bindings because so many buttons have multiple functions. So I finally figured out why the game was not recognizing controller inputs except in full override mode. It was a Steam controller setting. I right clicked on Cyberpunk 2077 in Steam, hit Properties, went down to Controller, and switched it to “Enable Steam Input.” And then that fixed it (either that or some of the other Steam controller options that I messed with at the same time).

Now the mod’s default controller settings work with having disabled xbox gamepad override in the mod’s settings. When the mod’s default gamepad settings are enabled in this way, they do, in fact, “just work.” Wish I had found this simple solution a week ago.

It’s just too bad that the hotkey menu does not seem to work with default gamepad settings. It’s not critically necessary anymore, but would be nice to have it. It is triggered by shift + middle mouse button (edgepeek), but the sprint button on the controller is not recognized as shift. And there are no rebindings in this mode, so it cannot be rebound to be shift rather than a gamepad button. But that’s a minor inconvenience.

I was able to set it to 3840×2160. Looks fantastic, and the inventory menu works properly.

It took me dramatically longer than expected to actually accomplish this because the option in Nvidia Control Panel to customize resolutions was greyed out for me. I tried messing around with virtual monitors and all kinds of other things without success. In case anyone comes across this post and has similar issues, for me the problem was that my Samsung G9 monitor was set to 240hz. Apparently you cannot set custom resolutions at 240hz, and you cannot solve this problem by just switching the refresh rate in the Nvidia control panel to 120hz or 60z. You need to physically hit the menu button on the monitor and drop the refresh rate from 240hz to 120hz. At that point Nvidia Control Panel will allow customized resolutions. And then I went to Geforce Experience to change the settings for Cyberpunk to launch with my 3840×2160 custom resolution.

    Cheers!

Actually, spoke to soon. The menu box with weapon details now pups up and stays around around for the first equipped weapon, which was not happening before. But there is still nothing when the cursor goes over the second and third weapons, unequipped weapons in the backpack, weapon stat comparisons, etc.

So a wider resolution may be necessary after all. Would be great to be able to try 3840×2160. Is there some easy way to do that through the mod that the others have figured out? Typing 3840×2160 into the UserSettings text file does not work because immediately upon closing the file it reverts to the lowest resolution. And the customize resolution option is greyed out in Nvidia control panel, possibly because of my monitor. But anyway I’m sure I could figure this one out on my own with just a bit more research if it needs to be done externally from the mod.

I wanted to try the 2013 Tomb Raider with VorpX and I applied the VorpX profile.

Then I wanted to revert to the original settings and I did it through VorpX’s restore game settings option. The problem is that when I went to run the game, I forgot that VorpX was on and it changed the original game settings back to the VorpX profile.

I want to go back to the original game settings and I can’t, because the change game settings option in VorpX is now empty for this game. I’ve even uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but the available game settings are just what vorpX allows, not the originals. How do I remove VorpX settings for this game?
