Ace Combat seems like a great game for the Rift, and VorpX seems to do quite well with the visuals, but I’m trying to find a way to make the headtracking work.
ACAH has pretty good support for gamepads, and I have no problem making the analog view panning work with a gamepad as normal, so I got excited when I found the ‘Headtracking as Gamepad’ option inside VorpX. However, I can’t seem to actually make it do anything. I don’t know if this is a problem with the specific game or if I’m doing something wrong, or what. It could be that the game simply doesn’t recognize the gamepad emulation, but I wanted to know if anyone else with more experience has tried this or is interested, because ACAH would be a wicked game for the rift, even with no 3D.
I enable ‘headtracking as gamepad’, but no amount of screwing around with the axes or device number or whatnot will get any response.
When I enable this option, is VorpX creating a virtual joystick? If so, how do I get a game to see it?
Is it hijacking the input from an existing joystick? I’d like to find out more, because I imagine many games get their headtracking from this method.
Any responses are appreciated, and I’ll update if I learn anything.
Thanks to Ralf for this sweet driver, I’m having great fun with it despite these issues ^_^Topic: Battlefield 4
Anyone have this working on the DK2 on VorpX 0.7.1? I can’t even get it to hook.
hello everyone, happy Saturday! thanks Ralf for getting a version of vorpx out to us so fast for DK2.
Im having issues trying to close the vorpx windows that pop up when I start up Skyrim, specifically the second window that talks about calibrating head position tracking using [SHIFT][SPACE]. the first window that pops up about the fov 120 tip I can click the ok button, or press enter and that one goes away.
I cant get the second window to disappear at all, ive tried every button on my keyboard, including shift+space, and every other conceivable combination I could think of, even rolling my face across the keyboard didn’t work (that’s my go to default for fixing things).
Skyrim runs fine other than that, just a window in front of my face that floats around everywhere I go, I think I shall name it Fred.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions everyone, have a great day!
Topic: Assetto Corsa + DK2
As of me posting this.. vorpX DOES NOT officially support the DK2.. this is just a way to make it work.. This also works for other games that support TrackIR..
I’m quoting my AC post…

How I go this working…
To be clear this does require that you purchase vorpX and I don’t want to come off like im selling it… There is a similar free app but I couldn’t it working..
vorpX does not officially support the DK2 yet which means its somewhat buggy….
So buy it at your own risk… It works for me but may not work for you…Some problems…
Apps do not work – they did at first.. i think — Oddly my app works minus the menus… (works very well on the rift too)
AI does not work… I tested 1 AI – 50 AI… the game crashes trying to load the first AI car..
99.8% sure these are vorpX issues..My setup…
DK2 = Extended Desktop with the rift being the primary monitor
Launch AC — Set RES to 1920×1080 74/75hz
Launch vorpX – (It has crashed a few times.. just keep launching it..)
open the vorpX control panel form the system tray and change some settings
Display/Monitor drop down is set to system default
Oculus Profile is set to Do not use a profile (use the ingame app to set your IPD and vignette) (remember your IPD for later..)
everything else leave unchecked.TrackIR I changed the tracking to (one : one) and as always I disabled the XYZ axis because AC still has issues with those getting stuck..
Freetrack might work..When you launch the game you will receive an error about tracking… even though its off.. just hit enter..
Once in the game hit DEL and start changing the vorpX settings… IPD calibration tool is on the second page/tab.. this is the best way to calibrate your eyes..If you need to edit something and you haven’t figured out how to look at the desktop cross-eyed.. just hit the power button on top of your DK2.. This will throw everything back on your main screen.. When you’re done turn the DK2 back on you’re ready to go…
Seems kinda easy reading over this but it was a pain in the butt at first… Let just say I can see very well cross-eyed now…
Lastly can also make a video if needed..
