dellrifter22ParticipantIt’s still working here for me (steam version). Did you download the new 2021 cloud profile from June?
Make sure you have excluded the launcher “Star Trek Online.exe” in the vorpX config app. We don’t want to hook the launcher, instead we want to hook GameClient.exe that initiates after you click “Engage”.
Also, if you have an oculus headset you can try running vorpX in SteamVR mode. Sometimes that helps with hooking certain games.
dellrifter22ParticipantGeneral instructions are listed here.
It can depend on how cooperative your monitor is, but in general you can type in any resolution and click Test to see what passes and what fails. I can usually double my monitors native resolution before it starts having trouble. Anything that passes the test is saved to a list that will show up in your games to select.
dellrifter22ParticipantHmm, I forgot to mention I tested only with the Free To Play version on steam. It did not require any Origin account and never opened any Origin app to play.
Maybe there are additional launcher executables that run for Origin or subscriptions, that vorpX is mistakenly trying to hook first instead of the actual swtor.exe. The vorpX config app has an Excluded Programs list for this reason. Maybe try adding any additional exes you find in the games install directory to the vorpX excluded list, and click apply.
In my swtor directory I see launcher.exe, launcherDiag.exe, and launcherRestartMsg.exe. In my case it was enough that launcher.exe is among the vorpX excluded list, but it might be safer to add any and all others that you might find there.
vorpX should not initiate until after you have logged into the launcher and then press play.
dellrifter22ParticipantLast time I checked, SuperDepth3D is Z3D. But if it’s looking good on your setup then that’s great!
It’s strange that you haven’t found a working UE4 profile yet. I generally test UE4 games first with the Mordhau one, and have good success more often than not. You could try the cloud profile for Medieval Dynasty. It’s probably the most recently released UE4 game I’ve tried.
Have you tried without DLSS? I’ve heard that can be problematic, or anything dealing with dynamic resolutions. Also double check you have assigned the correct exe to the profile. Remember that Unreal 4 games always have the “shipping.exe” buried in the Binaries\Win64 folder.
dellrifter22ParticipantNew G3D profile added to the cloud. Read here.
dellrifter22ParticipantI don’t own the original Secret World, but I tried some fixes for Legends. Who knows, maybe it will work. Two new profiles added to the cloud:
Secret World Legends (G3D)
– exclude ClientPatcher.exe to not hook the launcher
– set dx11 mode
– use a 16:9 resolution (2560×1440)
– AA off and low settings recommended (I turned everything down to 0 lowest)*press V to enable mousewheel camera zoom for first-person or desired 3rd-person distance
*vorpX Shadow Treatment will toggle some lighting effectsStar Wars: The Old Republic (G3D)
– use a 16:9 resolution (2560×1440)
– set shadows to LOW*mousewheel to zoom camera as desired
*cinema mode recommended due to very low FOVI don’t really play either game, so only the starting areas were tested. It’s possible that some effects later in the game will need authoring, but the base G3D is now there and should be good to go. I’ve scaled the 3D and positioned the virtual screens to best match the games’ FOVs in my HPG1, but you can adjust them as you like. Enjoy.
dellrifter22ParticipantI have a suspicion that you might be assigning the wrong exe to your profiles. Unreal 4 games are sneaky in that the main directory has an exe (Medieval_Dynasty.exe), but the actual exe is buried in the Binaries\Win64 folder (Medieval_Dynasty-Win64-Shipping.exe).
By default, vorpX will attempt to hook in to any exe that runs. If there is no profile assigned to said exe, vorpX will hook a generic profile with base functionality (no 3D).
I don’t have SCUM yet, but I want to try the SP in vorpX. it’s an EAC game though (anti cheat blocks vorpX) so I’ve had my doubts about getting it to work. Have you successfully loaded SP into the headset?
I have been playing Medieval Dynasty recently though, and it works pretty well in vorpX. I added a profile to the cloud if you want to have a go. G3D.
Medieval Dynasty (G3D)
for best results:
– use a 4:3 resolution (I use 1600×1200, game runs heavier than it looks)
– set FOV slider to max 110 in game
– AA on highest possible (others not tested)To slightly increase FOV and soften the shadows (UE4 G3D shadows are never perfectly matched in both eyes, so blurring them helps) open Engine.ini from C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Medieval_Dynasty\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor… add these lines at the bottom:
[/script/engine.localplayer]
AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV[SystemSettings]
r.Shadow.DistanceScale=1.1
r.Shadow.CSM.TransitionScale=0.25
r.Shadow.MaxResolution=16
r.Shadow.FadeResolution=32
r.Shadow.MinResolution=8
r.Shadow.RadiusThreshold=0.06
r.Shadow.TexelsPerPixel=0.06I assigned global illumination to Shadow Treatment in the vorpX menu, so if the moving shadows bother you, you can toggle it OFF to give a permanent overcast look. I actually prefer the look of overcast lighting in this game – feels more medieval.
dellrifter22ParticipantI played through half the game tonight, pretty fun.
I put a third profile on the cloud (based on Unity 5) with a few problematic G3D shaders now disabled, the way you intended. For the limited FOV, I found a screen zoom at 0.70 with a slight 0.20 forced fov enhancement was good compromise in my HPG1.
I used a 16:9 aspect ratio (2560×1440) with BEST graphics setting.
I assigned the bright white bloom effect to the G3D Shadow Treatment toggle. So if it bothers you, you can switch it OFF in the vorpX menu.
Hopefully there are no new problems in the last half of the game, I’ll have to check later.
dellrifter22ParticipantFor one game I used the SteamEdit tool as described by moadepth here.
Making a renamed copy of the game.exe and selecting it from “Edit Launch/Executable:” worked for me, but sometimes this assignment did not survive a steam reboot and I had to do it again.
It’s not as convenient as it maybe could be, but an option for now.
dellrifter22ParticipantI found some working G3D for dx9 mode, and added another profile to the cloud: The Lord of the Rings Online (G3D)
-set dx9 mode
-use a 16:9 resolution and aspect ratio (2560×1440)
-general graphics setting: High
*minor skybox issues
*ctrl+\ to unlock and rearrange UI
*tested on HP reverb with mouse/keyboardThe skybox 3D isn’t right, and the UI layer has no depth and cannot be scaled, but most everything else looks fine. Tested with the general High overall setting.
Cinema mode is probably ideal for most, but I prefer to use the FullVR mode for looking around in first-person and using EdgePeek (middle mouse click) when zooming out to third-person. Give it a try and see what you think.
dellrifter22ParticipantWhich game is it? And which unreal 4 profile did you try to copy?
dellrifter22ParticipantYou can set the 3D strength to whatever you like best really.
In my headset, 2.0 makes the athletes look near life-size in closeup scenes, which for me makes it feel more like VR. The stronger you push 3D, the smaller in scale everything will appear.
I tried to set a compromise of screen size and 3D strength to best match the camera FOV for most action scenes and huddles, and give the feeling of watching an actual game from the stands, but feel free to adjust to whatever works best in your headset. Glad it’s working for everyone.
dellrifter22ParticipantFor me it works as normal in rdr2. Try changing between Fullscreen or windowed mode, often the borderless/windowed modes restrict to the displays native.
dellrifter22Participant4:3 @ 2304×1728 is a good balance of G3D clarity and performance in most games with my HPG1. You can also lower your image zoom down a bit to increase the pixel density. I can go a little below .90 before the screen edge becomes noticeable.
Just curious… besides the obvious performance advantage, is there a reason it must be alternate frame rendering? Is normal G3D SBS not possible in a similar fashion?
@ Jarilo I did notice that the vorpX overide keys are now working again, so I had to go to the input page of delete menu and set Alt key override to NO, and now I can use they Alt key as normal.
dellrifter22ParticipantJust tried the RDR2 camera and gotta say – pretty neat implementation so far, nice work Ralf!
Apart from some noisy AA outlines, the AFR G3D looks decent, performs well, and runs surprisingly smooth while headtracking. I don’t begin to notice any alternation until I use mouse input, which immediately causes interruptions. I think this mod is clearly intended for controllers (having movement restrictions for decoupled rotation), so if that is your preferred why to play, this mod probably works quite well. It feels much more of a VR experience now.
For those of us who play mouse and keyboard, is there a way use AFR for 3D only, without the control modifications? I can’t strafe walk, or steer the horse. wasd movement and mouselook don’t behave the way you expect.
Also, are there any values we can edit for the camera strength or position? In my HPG1 everything looks small, at about 1/2 scale. Holding my toy guns riding on a pony :))
Impressed so far though. Time to check the other things.
